Trying to avoid fizzy drinks- what do you drink?

I was doing so well avoiding anything fizzy but I've fallen off the wagon so to speak and I'm bloated, my skin has broken out and I feel wired after two Diet Cokes.

What do you drink as a 'treat' or socially if you're avoiding fizzy things?

Are cordials very sugary?

Sadly have never liked champagne. Never destined for the glamorous life [sigh]

I used to drink far too many fizzy drinks (Diet Coke eat) but now if I want that fizz I'll have sparkling water. It can take a while to get used to if you're not already but definitely works for me and I've cut down drastically on other fizz now. Unfortunately can't have prosecco/champagne because I'm pregnant anyway or it might be a different story 😄

Sugar free cordial with a dash of lime. Ribena is good

Milomonster · 23/12/2019 15:06

Sparkling water. Boring I know.

AwdBovril · 23/12/2019 15:06

I can't have caffeine or most artificial sweeteners (due to migraines). I quite like iced fruit teas - I make them in advance, quite strong, & let them cool down, then store them in the fridge in a big jug. Pour over ice. No calories, fizz or unpleasant chemicals. Weirdly, most fruit teas taste of nothing when hot, but are quite nice cold.

Flavoured fizzy water

jelly79 · 23/12/2019 15:11

I don't like fizzy drinks so tea, coffee, sliced lemon in water

wonkylegs · 23/12/2019 15:11

Teisseire cordial

Or bottle green cordials

Loads of lovely flavours
I particularly love T grenadine, passion fruit & pink grapefruit, DH loves the BG plum & apple.
Some are sweeter than others - have with water still or sparkling depending on what you prefer & ice

Fizzy water makes me bloated and gassy too. Iced fruit tea sounds interesting, because I don't generally like them hot.

Water, really boring I know but add ice and a slice of lime.

AwdBovril · 23/12/2019 15:13

I also like infused water - I use one of those infuser bottles - I mostly have lime with a sprig of mint. Just mint on its own is also nice, though, if you're worried about acid on your teeth. Also cucumber & mint.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/12/2019 15:14

The only iced fruit tea I can find has stevia in it and I don't touch artificial sweeteners.

AwdBovril · 23/12/2019 15:17

My favourite fruit tea recently (that's cheap & easy to get) is the Twinings strawberry & raspberry. Fruit teas are obviously not as strong flavoured as normal fizzy drinks but they are completely guilt free. And, cheaper.

eurochick · 23/12/2019 15:19

I like cucumber infused fizzy water but I'm sure it's nice with still water too.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 23/12/2019 15:43

i drink fruit iced tea also. I tend to make my own, and this is my favourite one i have tried so far

corduroyal · 23/12/2019 15:57

A dash of bitters with tonic or soda is good, not sugary, only a teeny tiny bit alcoholic and tastes grown up, especially with lemon etc

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2019 17:00

Sainsbury's high juice. Fruit juice. Coffee.
