I just woke up and my throat was on fire. Like heartburn but so much worse. It felt like there was acid vomit in my throat.

I went toilet and my face and chest were all red and patchy like when you have an allergic reaction.

I went all shaky and threw up a few times.

DH brought me a few glasses of water to try and wash away the fire in my throat.

My ears feel weird too

Feel OK now but can still taste the acid stuff

Maybe ring 111 to chat it through if you feel it's more than just bug/food poisoning. Hope you feel better soon.

Acid reflux

Instatwat · 23/12/2019 02:58

An acute histamine reaction perhaps? I would also call 111 to speak it through with someone.

I used to get this when I was pregnant, really painful and would wake me up gasping. It was much worse after a tomato sauce based meal for some reason. Either of those apply? I found drinking loads of water and propping myself up a bit more upright helped a little

Acid reflux OP? Sounds very much like my experience of it (I have GERD and a hiatus hernia) it isn't a nice feeling. Had you been eating late in the evening or drinking? That makes it worse as does lying flat, certain foods etc.

Obviously call 111 if concerned or ask your GP - better safe than sorry

Acid reflux. It wakes me up gasping for breath occasionally, very unpleasant.

FatBlobbyBob · 23/12/2019 03:23

What have you eaten this weekend?

QuiteForgetful · 23/12/2019 05:33

It does sound like acid reflux to me too. Some comon triggers are chocolate, coffee, tomatoes, onions and fatty & fried foods, spices, alcohol and sugary stuff.
Try to sleep slightly raised up, don't lay on your right hand side if possible, if you don't lay down right after eating or drinking it will help prevent the acid flowing up. I take Pantoprazole each evening, but eating a simple low fat diet really helps. Good luck.
Ps. Gaviston tablets help too! Maybe eating a slice of bread will help push the acid through your system?
