Weekend away with a toddler

I'm planning (late I know!) To surprise Dh with a weekend away in January. We would be taking DD who is nearly 2. Can anyone recommend a place south of Birmingham that has something toddler friendly nearby for a day out that we can all enjoy? Longleat was a particular hit recently so anything similar that has enough indoor fun in case it rains would be perfect.

Would you consider going North rather than south of Birmingham? If you went to York then you've got the option of National Railway Muesum (Almost completely indoors) or York Chocolate Story as well as other local attractions.

Alternatively if you went to Chester then you've got Chester Zoo (outdoors but with plenty of indoor areas to shelter from the elements), the Blue Planet Aquarium (indoors) or one of the Muesums in the city centre.. Smile

Cotswolds with a visit to the cotswold wildlife centre. Had a fab day with my Dh and toddler earlier this year.

I went to moonfleet manor with my three children (6.4,1) for my husbands 40th earlier this month. It's super child friendly: free childcare, huge indoor play area, kids cinema, tvroom, high tea at 5pm just for kids, swimming pool. I can think of a place better set up.

We like staying at Bovey Castle in Devon and it’s excellent for small children. On the way, we have stopped at Diggerland which has some things undercover including an indoor soft play area. We’ve also been on a trip to Bicton Park Botanical Garden which would also be great for toddlers.
