I'm struggling to find a present for my brother who is 22 and at uni.

Are these any good? I don't even really know what they do.

Thanks

I have several! They're great. If he has Spotify he ca play music through them or play podcasts. The dot doesn't have a massive speaker though. We mostly use ours to talk to Alexa about santa

my echo dot and a subscription to amazon music have made my life complete. amazon music has some very obscure stuff, it’s well worth the money.

I love mine, we now have 4 in the house and another one under the tree for my daughter

biscuitbadger · 22/12/2019 21:16

Most people love them but I hate mine. The kids shout at it, and they change the volume so it shouts back when I use it. I find the noise of it stressful. It now started randomly switching the TV on from another room. And it never bloody understands what song we want it to play. We only really wanted it to play music - wish we'd just got a Bluetooth speaker!

Icanflyhigh · 22/12/2019 21:16

They're brilliant!
We currently have one, but all 3 DCs are having one for xmas!

DivisionBelles · 22/12/2019 21:34

I've bought four this Xmas. One for DM, one for the PIL, and on each for the DC. PIL are technophobes so it will probably just get used as a radio, but hey ho.

Daisydoola · 22/12/2019 22:03

That sounds really good. There's one called an echo show that looks good but not sure if he would use the screen or not.

The echo show is really good too. We have both.

Daisydoola · 22/12/2019 22:14

Can you watch tv on the echo show? I saw it had a daylight alarm clock which would be great for him I think
