Lost Christmas Gifts

Argh.... I’m an idiot.
I bought two beautiful, personalised books for my DM and best friend in October. Really meaningful for them both. I got them out at the beginning of December and I’m sure I put them in the present pile to be wrapped. Finally sat down to wrap them today and I can’t find them for love nor money. I’ve torn the house apart. DH looked whist i was out and nothing.
I’ve text them both to tell them I’ve hidden them so well I can’t find them, so expect a present in January, but what a way to take the shine off.
Am I the only one whose lost presents this year?

I do this every year. It’s the strongest sign that I am actually turning into my mum!

Have you looked in all handbags and work bags and your wardrobe?

legodisasterzone · 22/12/2019 16:32

Oh I feel so sorry for you, that’s such a shame.
I got really upset yesterday when I realised I couldn’t find two necklaces I bought for my DDs in October 😔
They are special and I checked the usual places over and over. I’m gutted.

Melancholymuffin · 22/12/2019 16:32

@GatoFofo me too! My DM is shocking for discovering Easter eggs under the stairs In August!
Wardrobes yes, but bags no. Will check now. Thank you! Smile

I’ve lost 6 peppa pig books a dolls cot a teletubby toy and 2 dolls. I’m hoping they are in the one part of the garage I can’t currently access so fingers crossed dh can be my saviour when he gets back!

Shufflebumnessie · 22/12/2019 16:44

I've lost 2 chocolate santas DH won't believe I haven't eaten them. Of course, it's the only thing DD has actually asked for. Had to rush to the Tesco yesterday and they only had huge ones left. Of course I had to get one for DS too! DD is actually benefiting from this (my wallet is not!!)

Top of the kitchen cupboard
Bottom of my wardrobe
A crate thingy under my bed
In an old cupboard in my room
In the side hallway that nobody ventures into.
In the electric cupboard
Behind the sofa
In the coat closet
In the pots/pan cupboard
In an old box that is for the dump but DP and I know there are things under the crap

These are some of the places I've hidden stuff in so I'm guessing yours could be anywhere but maybe if you see where others hide theirs it might ring a bell.

went to do tree the other day and half the decs are missing. the star for top of the tree; our dove of peace; baubles all sorts so frustrating

christmasathome · 22/12/2019 17:00

BikeRunSki · 22/12/2019 17:02

Car boot?

Comps83 · 22/12/2019 17:05

My GM lost a pack of kickers she brought me last Xmas. She must have mentioned it everytime I saw her for the next year

cataline · 22/12/2019 17:06

I feel your pain. All of our table decorations are missing.

Jammiebammie · 22/12/2019 17:07

I’ve lost a ring, what’s more annoying is I’ve ordered it for sil to give to dd so I reeeally need to find it...

AudTheDeepMinded · 22/12/2019 17:09

I've lost a pair of double layer walking socks I bought for me mother, but I FOUND a playmobile police bike I'd lost last year (on top of the kitchen cupboards). I also usually misplace all the bargain cards I bought in the New Year sales!

KTD27 · 22/12/2019 17:10

Just found my husbands gift under a chest of drawers in the attic. Why on Earth I hid it there I don’t know and I don’t remember doing it but things do turn up in the strangest of places. Good luck

So annoying, because you last saw them early December is it possible they have been put in the boxes you store decorations in.

MrsFezziwig · 22/12/2019 17:16

I put a reminder on my phone which read “you already have cards”, to pop up on 1st December. Would have been so much more useful if I had added where I had actually put them...

Melancholymuffin · 22/12/2019 17:53

FOUND THEM! Grin
Thank you @UnderTheButtNutHut - we also have a pile of stuff for the dump (clearing out bedrooms for guests over christmas) and they wound up in a bag of decorations that were definitely not to be binned!!!
DH is now being very smug that if I’d have sorted the stuff for the dump earlier I would have found them
Hope everybody finds their presents - it’s amazing how stressful it can all be!
