Great news for "Dogger" fans! Shirley Hughes has written a new Dogger book, set on Christmas Day. I imagine it's for next Christmas , as it would have been in the shops by now. It's about Dogger getting lost again - on Christmas Day!

I loved Dogger as a child! I bought a copy of it for DS as a stocking filler this Christmas.

HoHoHoik · 22/12/2019 19:29

Release date on Amazin for the sequel is 29th October 2020.

WorraLiberty · 22/12/2019 19:31

I've listed a book called "A Guide To Dogging" on Ebay.

No buyers yet but 53 people watching Xmas Grin

My copy is safely stored away waiting for grandchildren...

Oooh I have not seen this yet (work for a book supplier)

I firmly put Dogger at the root of my kids always being kind to each other, even now they are adults and even when one of them is having a moment and being a bit challenging.

Dogger and the Moomins are the moral template my kids were raised by.

I still find Dogger traumatic. I'm not sure I can face another one.

Onceuponatimethen · 22/12/2019 19:49

Love love dogger!

So excited!!

OhCumInMyFaceful · 22/12/2019 19:52

Hang on, there was more than one Dogger book?

I was born in '82, the book where Dogger gets lost at a bring and buy type sale, and they have to get him back from the little girl who bought him, was one of the scariest books of my early childhood (because I had and still have a bear who I couldn't ever ever ever give away).

Clawdy · 22/12/2019 22:18

No, there is only one Dogger book in print at the moment, but the second one will be published next October.

Yay.
Lovely book.

GiantKitten · 22/12/2019 22:30

Dogger is one of those books I adore but can’t read aloud for the floods 😳

BedraggledBlitz · 22/12/2019 22:38

Oh wow I love Dogger! The illustrations are so lovely.

MrsBobDylan · 22/12/2019 22:48

Oh I adored this book when I was little and read it to my youngest (even though he prefers a sticker book) before bed.

The love Dave has for Dogger and his big sister coming to the rescue...gulp.

Another big favourite of mine is The Velveteen Rabbit. I have bought my niece a copy for Christmas and I'm hoping she'll want me to read it to her.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 22/12/2019 22:51

Really????!!!!!!!! That’d SO exciting! I love Dogger.

SingingMyOwnSpecialSong · 22/12/2019 22:55

Yeah! Love Dogger. And Bella, the best big sister ever. My DD has a big Shirley Hughes treasury and I kind of wish I live in the days those stories are set in. They are so simple and cosy and real and full
of love and kindness. (I know it wasn’t really like that then either).

Usingmyindoorvoice · 22/12/2019 23:00

Happy news.

Starlive23 · 22/12/2019 23:24

Oh that's great news I loved Dogger!

Ladyratterley · 22/12/2019 23:26

Oh I loved this book when I was little! Lovely news.

SomethingOnce · 23/12/2019 02:49

Will it be ‘80s-style or modern, I wonder...

I love the dads’ race.

SomethingOnce · 23/12/2019 02:52

‘70s-style, even. Though plenty of people were still rocking those looks into the early ‘80s.
