Please help me plan Boxing Day food

Please inspire me! On Boxing Day I am feeding 5 adults and 2 kids. One adult doesn't eat pork. Another adult is quite 'traditional' in her tastes. Kids are fussy.
I was going to cook a chicken and a ham in coke, do jacket potatoes, rolls, cheese and biscuits and I have coleslaw on my list. Any ideas about things to go with it all, especially veggie type stuff?

It sounds fine but if the adult doesn't eat pork had turkey on Christmas Day will it be a bit dull for them? I love chicken though!

As long as there's cheese, bubble and squeak and leftover poultry I'd be happy... actually how about some crudités and hummus etc?

Ah veggie stuff, we are doing a parsnip tarte tatin using vegan puff pastry this as inspiration but substituting Vegan mozzarella cheese. You wouldn't have to. Also done a filo pastry tart one time with roasted courgette and peppers and tomatoes. Delicious and enjoyed by everyone. We have a vegan in the family!

There's no leftovers because we aren't cooking Xmas dinner. The adult who doesn't eat pork isn't that fussy about repeating meals and he isn't an honoured guest ( DH ) so I'm not too worried about him. Crudites are a good plan!

Any other ideas?

Make some cheese gougeres at regular intervals during the day - I only discovered them this year, and I'm addicted - very easy to make!

Buy premade quiche case.
Fry up veg , add cheese and egg.
Do one with bacon and mushrooms.
Great hot or cold

the kids might love, and the adults. mini corn on the cobs as a side dish.. a huge bowl of home made fresh fruit salad is quite nice too to finish as an alternative to heavy desserts,You could put some in brandy snap baskets with a sprig of mint they look lovely. After the excesses of christmas day I would keep it plain ,,,maybe some kebabs or prawn skewers to pick at ..and some wonderful part baked bread rolls ...

Cauliflower cheese or leeks in cheese sauce?

Rainbowqueeen · 22/12/2019 18:07

I’d go with the crudités and hummus plus the corn cobs

Simple no fuss and bound to be enjoyed by everyone

If you feel you need more do a vege quiche or frittata

KindergartenKop · 22/12/2019 20:56

Cauli cheese occurred to me earlier. Yum!
