Bedtime at 6pm

My baby's fallen asleep and it's not even 6pm! 😬

Is this too early? I don't know if I should wake up him or not! Arghhh

How old?

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 17:55

@Sexnotgender 7 months

How old is he? Mine went to sleep at that time from about 5 months onwards for a few months and then it gradually got later - by the time he was one he was going to sleep between 7 and 7.30. I would just go with it and enjoy your early evening while you can Smile

What time are naps at?

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 17:59

He usually goes to bed at 7-7.30pm so this is quite early for him!

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 17:59

@YahooGmail he had one in the morning at about 11 and a short one at 2pm. He's not one for napping for much during the day despite my efforts.

Oh is it not a regular thing? What time does he usually sleep then? If it’s a lot earlier than usual his body might just think of it as a nap and wake up full of beans at 8 o’clock... not sure I’d want that.

Pinkblueberry · 21/12/2019 18:02

Yeah that might not go well for you then Grin makes no difference to him obviously - but for your own sake I’d be tempted to wake him.

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 18:04

@Pinkblueberry This is what I'm thinking Sad but to be honest I think he was really tired. I was trying to keep him awake by playing but he wasn't having any of it!

OP posts:
Sexnotgender · 21/12/2019 18:07

I wouldn’t wake him.

I’ve just put my 10 month old down and he’ll sleep until 6.30/7.

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 18:09

@Sexnotgender That's amazing! DS is sleeping through mostly, but we still get up a couple of times during the night as he wants his dummy and cries for it when it falls out of his mouth

OP posts:
Pinkblueberry · 21/12/2019 18:10

If he’s really tired then there’s not much you can do really I suppose - if you wake him he’ll just fall asleep again or be grumpy. I would leave him be then but be prepared for an early wake up (although you never know he might just carry on sleeping!) sorry my advice keeps changing - final word!

ItsADirtyNappyLove · 21/12/2019 18:34

DD is 6 months and bloody refuses to nap in the day Hmm but sometimes will have a 20 minute nap at 6 - she’s usually in bed at 7:30pm. On these days I just let her nap and push her bedtime back to 8pm. When she goes to bed at 8pm she sleeps through until 9am so I get a lie in, sometimes I try and force the 6pm nap but she’s a determined little sod Grin

marmitemayonnaise · 21/12/2019 18:38

Neither of my babies ever fell asleep without serious effort from me so the idea of one that just falls asleep early is both bizarre and amazing to me Grin

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 18:40

@marmitemayonnaise lol, I know I'm really lucky 🙈

Same as @Sexnotgender here. 6 month old has gone to bed and won't wake til 6/7 In the morning.

Went back to my 9-5 job this week and had to change my hours to 8-4 so that id actually be able to see him in the evening and put him to bed.

HotDogGuy · 21/12/2019 18:54

Not too early my 1 year old goes to bed around 6 every night. Sleeps to 7ish

newbingepisodes · 21/12/2019 18:58

Mines been sleeping from 6pm-7am since 11 weeks and is now 8 months.

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 19:03

Thanks everyone, I've left him to sleep! Be an early wake up for me tomorrow though Grin

My 2 year old has had a 6pm bedtime since she was around 3 months. Now that she's in nursery and the dark nights she sometimes wants to go to bed about 5:30pm I always just go along with it and she sleeps right through. Enjoy - hope he doesn't wake up too early Grin

x2boys · 21/12/2019 19:22

Oh God I'm glad the days of naps are well behind me ,my youngest loved his naps and so did i used to nap.with him but anything past about 3 would result in a very late night !

underneaththeash · 21/12/2019 19:24

Yes, my last two went from 6.30pm to 7pm from around 12 weeks.
(We did dream feed them at 10pm though).

DS1 was a sleep nightmare and we were really regimented with the other 2.

anon2000000000 · 21/12/2019 20:52

Mine used to sleep at that tome but since she turned 9 months it all changed. She's still going strong at the moment.
