Tonsillitis in 3 yo

My DD has tonsillitis (and an ear infection) this is the 2nd time is 4 months. she hasn't eaten since Wednesday and is refusing any food (even ice cream / cakes etc) Thankfully she is drinking so have been giving her stuff with sugar in and milkshakes but she has lost weight!

My doctor said she has to have it SEVEN times before she can have them removed!! Surely it is not healthy for a child to go through this seven times in 12 months!? And what if she gets it 6 times and then a 7th on the 13th month 🤦🏻‍♀️

Is it possible to pay privately and have them removed or is it the same criteria?
