Can I donate formula anywhere?

Reading about food banks not accepting donations of formula, because of Unicef recommendations to support breastfeeding.

My baby is now on a dairy free prescription formula so we have ready made bottles of regular formula just sitting in the cupboard. Seems a shame to throw them away, any ideas if they can be donated anywhere?

That is outrageous that food banks won’t take formula. Every mother has the right to choose how to feed their own baby! Wow. Could you advertise it on Facebook for free?

I've seen it on Gumtree under For Sale: Freebies

Surestart. As long as they're sealed and in date then a parent will take your hand off.
If there isn't one near you, then ask a local Church. Most of them do play groups.

Women's Refuge some times will take them.

It seems a shame they won't, mothers that use food banks aren't exempt from having bf issues.

Is there a local charity project that may take them? Where I live it's called the light project, which helps people who are or have just recently come off the street, and one of the women who regularly goes has just become a mother (she has quite a lot of ds stuff that no longer fits him) Or Facebook market place, maybe someone local could make use of them?

I would ask your local food banks anyway. I really can't see that they would leave a baby hungry when their purpose is to feed hungry people. It's not as though once you've been formula feeding you can just change to breastfeeding.
If any food banks do feel this way, I'm actually appalled.

Our local food bank definitely accepts sealed formula. Check with them.
