She is lovely but...

I have a lodger. She is lovely but I find her overwhelming and I can’t put my finger on why.
She is a strange mix of very shy (her own description). She hardly leaves the house to socialise. However when she talks it is like a deluge... a monologue. And she bustles around the house and exudes a kind of busy energy. The opposite of self effacing. I am an extrovert but am finding her exhausting. So I retreat. I know she is not doing anything wrong but I wondered if anyone else had experienced someone like this.

Sounds like autism.

Really? She seems very chatty and has a lot of physical presence- almost like she was on stage and trying to project. But she has no life (job hunting but doesn’t go out at all bar meeting up with a friend about once every 3 weeks and doing a food shop. Thinking about it she doesn’t really do two way conversation, she just talks at me. She is hyper clean and brought all her own utensils etc and spends hours making what should be basic meals like spag Bol.

It could just bee she feels comfortable with you. I'm painfully shy, really struggle with going places and interacting with strangers or people I don't know well (I always feel they're wishing I would go away they think I'm an idiot). But if I know someone and am comfortable I can talk the hind leg off a donkey!

Also, as she's aware she's abnormally shy, she might be making extra effort to be good company and overdoing it?

You may be right. Or it may be because she stays home alone all day she has a lot to say when I get home.
