How can I track someone down?

olivertwistwantsmore · 20/12/2019 16:12

I need to find a long lost family member - they've been left a bequest in a Will. We have no mutual friends. Have tried Facebook. What else can I try? There's not enough money to hire a private detective!

Thanks

Electoral roll?

HoHoHoik · 20/12/2019 16:15

Electoral roll. Also local newspapers sometimes have a "looking for" section on their letters page for things like missed connections and people trying to trace relatives so if you know the area they lst lived you could try thqt

Linkedin possibly?

FestiveFavourites · 20/12/2019 16:15

Advert in the local paper, assuming you have a rough idea where they live?

Oddly enough... and I bet it's not allowed... I'd say use MN as a to to help track the person down. There are lots of resourceful people on here.

Directory enquiries?

Winterdaysarehere · 20/12/2019 20:54

Have you Googled their name? I was looking for a relative. Found he had left an obituary for a former colleague.. I emailed the paper and asked they forward my address. They wouldn't for me but for a legal matter like yours they may...

Please be wary of people trying to track people down. The internet is anonymous and we don’t know if the person searching is not a violent ex etc. Please don’t give out other people’s info. If anything take the searchers details and pass on so the person being searched for can make the decision of whether they contact or not

192.com?

Bigbelliedseahorse · 20/12/2019 23:26

In this day and age, if they're impossible to track down and don't have internet profiles/electoral roll/ mutual contacts, that may be for a reason and they really don't want to be found.
