Social media is what you make it. I love it because I can keep in touch with friends and family who I don't see regularly. I enjoy seeing pictures of their children, holidays, etc. I have joined countless groups on Facebook relating to things I'm interested in and have made some great new friends. I follow pages I'm interested in and use it for finding out about events. I love Pinterest for recipes and craft ideas.

I hide/ delete anyone I find annoying or uninteresting.

Blue there are plenty of ways to stay in touch without speaking to people, and there have been for a long time! Letters, telegrams, postcards, emails, texts....

Facebook has been great for me. DS is disabled and through FB I have 'met' many other families in the same situation all over the world. We share advice and a shoulder to cry on and I've even been to a couple of local meet ups. For me, it's been a literal lifeline.
