Fuck I'm stressed. Is everyone stressed?

Sorry, possible Grinch alert.

I'm just fucking stressed and knackered. Working til Xmas eve, loads of crap subs/unavailable items on my Tesco delivery tonight, house it a shithole, beds need changing, 2 obligatory social occasions this weekend one of which requires me to provide a nicely cooked lamb joint for 12 people, everyone at work is imploding at how much there is to do before 24th, cat is a bit poorly but vet can't figure out what's up, and of course the fucking Tories.

End rant. Thank god we don't have to leave the house on the 25th. After lunch and clean up I'm getting in the bath with a bottle of pinot and not moving until the bottle is empty and the water is cold.

you know, I am starting to feel better. The last couple of days things seem to have gone in my favour. Started the day with a good run.Collected food order this morning - not a single other perosn queing! went into morrisons for bits Id forgotten and although busy it was fine. traditinal garden centre visit completed today without a hitch. Have poured a drink...and dc playing xmas monopoly...still got wrapping to do but I think I have everything bought.....

Baguetteaboutit · 23/12/2019 18:17

Everything is very zen here. I have about three presents left to wrap. All the food shopping is done. The house is tidy. The washing pile is low. I even washed the car. I feel like I have Christmas self-actualised. First. Time. Ever.

happypotamus · 23/12/2019 18:23

DH went to the supermarket. It was so busy there were no trollies left, they had run out of Christmas puddings so he had to go somewhere else. He was gone about 3hrs. The house is still a tip, DC is still ill but said she feels better than earlier, I am about to do a 12hr night shift after sleeping only 5hrs since I got up yesterday morning, and I have to go to shops on the way home in the morning, but I don't feel stressed right now, I am resigned to the fact that I will have maybe a couple of hours sleep when I get home tomorrow and then be up until after midnight wrapping the stocking presents and tidying up. Might have died of exhaustion by the end of the year because I am back at work on Thursday for a 13hr day shift but never mind.

I survived Tesco with two small children this morning.... Think we got there when it was just busy before it got actually hellish - as we came out there were long queues to get out of the carpark. Went to tkmaxx first and it was actually really quiet - everyone must have been having a lie in! Bribed kids with Gregg's doughnut with moderate success...

A friend of mine who is a GP said there is only one antibiotic you can't drink with. She always prescribes it for the patients she doesn't like.

Patsypie · 23/12/2019 19:36

Yes I've just checked my credit card statement online and nearly shit myself!

Ledkr · 23/12/2019 22:54

My mum said people were crying in Asda as it was so busy.
I had to ask her to repeat herself twice as I thought I'd misheard her.
Crying ? Confused

@YappityYapYap That made me laugh, I decided to write meaningful messages in all my Christmas cards this year. Lots of people I haven't seen for a while. It was a never-ending Christmas card hell.

What was I thinking? Honestly, sod people all of them. Next year I am doing a charity donation. Done.

penberrh · 23/12/2019 23:28

I took every Friday off work to ‘get my Christmas shit together’ and I’m still a bit stressed. It’s been worse though. I remember one Christmas about three years ago wrapping presents on Christmas morning itself.

Wish I could say the same! What is your secret @Baguetteaboutit - please tell me!

I think the tipping point was yoga and vitamin d 😁 Everything is easier when you're not brewing a cold.

Let's talk about perils of commentator's curse...the oven has died Shock

Danascully2 · 26/12/2019 07:12

So now it's Boxing Day, forecast is for rain all morning and I have to get 2 yr old and 5 yr old out as husband still has tonsillitis. It turns out there aren't many indoor options round here which are open on boxing Day.... And all friends are doing stuff with families so can't meet up with anyone argh, our family all abroad or otherwise unavailable. I have semi invented some bits we 'urgently' need from shopping centre so will drag them along there (smallish one so hopefully not too rammed with crazy sales shoppers...). Has a multi storey carpark though with loads of annoying pillars blocking doors from opening properly. Kids had a good time yesterday but involved a lot of squabble management from me... Bit fed up now, many many days until they start school again.... Don't think I've talked to another adult properly for nearly a week (husband has lost voice).

missyB1 · 26/12/2019 09:29

Danascully I feel for you. My dh has got some kind of lergy (I actually think his is just man flu though!) and today will be challenging I think, I’m desperate to get out but the weather is going to be shocking. We also don’t have any family anywhere near.

Danascully2 · 26/12/2019 09:46

Oh no sorry to hear you're in the same boat... Shopping centre has actually worked ok - they're currently playing on a ride on car (I never put money in but they like it anyway) while I am watching the sales shoppers and wondering why anyone would voluntarily go to the shops at 9am on boxing Day?? I hope you find a way of occupying yours and hopefully both husbands will be back pulling their weight very soon!!
