Am I paying a ridiculous price - £65.99 per month for
Broadband - superfast, unlimited
Landline with free calls after 19:00 (hardly ever use it
Sky TV but only have 'entertainment & )HD'
Line rental

We pay £50 for the same package. In our 3rd year. Not interested in Sky cinema/ sports and the other all singing, all dancing channels. We only watch Sky Atlantic and Arts.

.

RingtheBells · 19/12/2019 17:26

We pay £30 for fibre unlimited and line rental to BT and about £52 to Sky for entertainment, Sky Cinema, Box sets and multiroom, so proportionally probably about the same as you, we are probably overpaying compared with new customers with good deals.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 19/12/2019 17:33

We've had it a few months and think we pay £59 for
Sky Q
Broadband (superfast or whatever it is!) and line rental
Netflix and Sky Box Sets

We recently added Sky Sports for £20 per month which we're not tied in to so can cancel at any time so our total is £79 per month

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 19/12/2019 17:34

Oh, that includes all HD channels too!

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 19/12/2019 18:02

I forgot to say, it is sky Q I have.
I just phoned them and at the moment I am out of contract, but to save £15 they said I would need to go back in contract, and the cost would be £51.50, so about the same as you @AuntieMarys
Crown Hmm

@WhenTwoBecomeThree crikey, that's a lot!

AuntieMarys · 19/12/2019 18:05

I think £50 a month is fair enough

GiantKitten · 19/12/2019 18:18

Ours is £71 & it’s TV only, no phone or broadband. We have standard package on Q box plus box sets, Sports & HD.

Negotiated down to £54 a year ago but that’s lapsed now. I need to ring them again & say we can’t afford Sports any more (again) (that’s £28).

On top of that we have Netflix (4 users), amazon prime, BT sport (via Plusnet), & TV licence of course. Added together it’s well over £100pm Hmm

HoHoHoik · 19/12/2019 18:19

I pay £28 a month for SkyQ with all the channels, including HD and on demand box sets. Broadband comes from elsewhere. We were going to get it taken out and rang to cancel, they asked why and I said the cost was ridiculous then gave our months notice. They rang me up about 3-4 days after and offered us 18 months cut price TV to stay so we took it. At the end of the 18 months it went back up so we cancelled it again, they made the same offer but included a SkyQ box (we had the old style box before that).

GiantKitten · 19/12/2019 18:20

And line rental & broadband (fast fibre) from Plusnet are c £30pm extra.

Your £66 sounds pretty good to me, OP Grin

heyholetsgogogo · 19/12/2019 18:57

£73.50 super fast bb, unlimited calls, land line box sets cinema sports q muliroom

Told them about virgin Black Friday and they counter offered

NekoShiro · 19/12/2019 19:33

I dont have a household phone line, dont need one I have a mobile, and I have virgin fibre so no need for line rental £45 a month internet on their 'gaming' package, netflix for £8 a month and youtube is free, no tv license, so £43 a month on 'entertainment' which isn't that different

ffswhatnext · 19/12/2019 19:53

£10 a month line rental with free calls, unlimited bb from sky (deal given last year when I cancelled the tv to try and stop me cancelling the tv)
Just under a tenner a month Netflix
Around £4 a month prime (student discount)

When I was getting sky, the bill was around £70 a month excluding movies and sport.

Around £24 a month. Once the tv/bb deal end this will go up to around £30 as I'm leaving unless of course, they want to match the other deal.

And of course, no more worthless £12 a month license fee.

Linchpyn63 · 19/12/2019 21:08

Just don't go watching any live tennis or other live sport on amazon otherwise you WILL need a tv Licence

GiantKitten · 19/12/2019 21:11

We don’t have virgin here so it’s sky or freesat only. I’m beginning to think though I should start clocking the hours we watch sky vs all other TV Confused

GiantKitten · 19/12/2019 21:12

Johnson wants to decriminalise it though.

Rhubardandcustard · 19/12/2019 21:19

Switch to another provider. I now have super fast broadband with Vodafone £20 a month no fee for line rental fee, don't have calls included as I use my mobile. I then switched tv to Now tv, still sky but fraction of price, always doing deals. Movies and entertainment currently £8 month. Will never go back to sky.

Xxjanexx · 19/12/2019 21:21

I pay £37.50 a month for unlimited internet, free calls even to mobiles 24/7 must hang up and redial after a hr ,line rental plus all sports channels this is from talk talk .
I was paying £18 a month for sky basic package, but just changed to sky q so not sure yet how much that will be.

ffswhatnext · 19/12/2019 21:28

It's not just Amazon, but anywhere you watch something live regardless of the device. And of course i-Player.

Amanda2879 · 19/12/2019 22:12

Way to much I have super fast broadband free calls all time after 7 and also have sky entertainment and movies at 86 a month I would banter with them as when u threating to leave they soon offer u this that reduced rate remember years ago said leaving phone line was a pound a month and internet and TV movies too so seriously banter say going leave them as to much money soon sort something always do so won’t leave them

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 19/12/2019 22:30

ok thanks for all your advice. On another note, (I am a technophobe) if I get rid of sky, do I have to have an ariel to watch amazon or Now tv Blush

OP posts:
IHaveBrilloHair · 19/12/2019 22:36

I pay £49
Fastest fibre broadband
Entertainment Netflix and box sets
Free calls

No contract either so I'll be renegotiating it in a few weeks

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/12/2019 22:38

I've just updated it too, got Sky Q and it saved me money on what I was paying.
I know people will say get rid of it, but I love my sky.

ffswhatnext · 19/12/2019 22:46

All you need is a screen and if you haven't got one, some type of device - ps4, xbox, dongle thingie, smart tv, etc.
No ariel as it all comes from the net.

I wasn't sure about giving it up. Turned off skyboxes, and tried Netflix etc. Cancelled and never looked back.

ffswhatnext · 19/12/2019 22:49

Stick not a dongle thingie.
Amazon and google chrome both do them. Sure there are more on the market
