I had implanon for almost 3 years with no problems, had it removed to conceive my son and had one fitted after his birth. The area around the bar became red, hot, itchy and slightly swollen. Antibiotics did nothing and in the end removed it. I went on to have another child and on Monday I got implanon inserted again in different arm and now same thing red itchy warm and slightly swollen. GP wants to leave it in and see but last time I kept it in for almost a year and spent most of that time with a hot itchy red arm! He has prescribed antihistamines
