Going tomorrow. Never been. Is it just chicken and chips?

Look online at the menu Hmm

TurningLeaves · 18/12/2019 22:51

You pick what you want, ie burger, wrap, wings, fillet, 1/4 chicken, etc. Then you decide how you want the chicken flavoured ie plain, peri, mango and lime is nice. Then you pick your sides. Peri chips are good. Beans and grains is lovely, corn on cob, etc.

You order at the counter. Pick your cutlery, chose sauces in bottles, and if you go for a soft drink, they're bottomless!

It takes a little getting used to, but the chicken is actually quite yummy! The other day I had a sunset burger which was really tasty.
Enjoy!

Butterfly chicken burger is lovely. Bear in mind that even the medium peri peri sauce is fairly spicy. I order my chicken cooked in medium sauce and it’s just perfect for me. I had some lovely chips the other day, I think they were called peri salted chips! Yum!

Look online at the menu as it can be a bit overwhelming.

Sit at the table. Decide what to have. Go to the counter to order and pay. Collect your drinks and sauces and cutlery from the side. Wait for your food. Eat. Leave.

I usually have chicken livers with a Portuguese roll, macho peas and peri salted chips.

TheCrowFromBelow · 18/12/2019 22:58

^^ bit grumpy!
You get shown to your table, given menus and then you have to go up to the counter and order, collect yournown curkery and sauces. Serve yourself soft drinks - you pay for an empty glass that you can refill as many times as you like.
We have wings roulette and then a variety of burgers/thighs etc.
The salads are good.

I love Nando’s for ease/speed/relaxed eating with kids. The food is pretty tasty, but it’s essentially fast food served on a plate. Various combinations of chicken with chips and sides, quite customisable to individual tastes and appetites. We usually share a chicken and some sides (half a chicken if just me and the kids, a whole if DH is there too). There is a range of different sauces, but they can be quite spicy. I usually opt for mango and lime as the kids prefer something mild, but you can also choose ‘peri tamer’ which is from the kids menu and basically bbq sauce. The only downside is that the food is quite generic, and as it’s quite cheap I suspect that they are not kind to their chickens. It’s great for quick food and hungry kids on the go. I don’t think we really went there pre children

Ah ok now I get it.
Thank you

If you go with the family and share a chicken and a few sides, it’s a fairly cheap way to feed everyone.

The houmous is nice. And the spicy nuts.

secretnurse · 18/12/2019 23:37

If you work for the NHS take your ID, they do a good discount, 20% IIRC!

TheoriginalLEM · 18/12/2019 23:40

Can somebody please explain to me why I can't eat the mild/medium peri sauce but i really like the super hot black bottle red label sauce?

BarbaraofSeville · 19/12/2019 05:26

They show you to a table which, despite the restaurant being 90% empty, is 2 inches from the only other couple in there therefore so close that you could hold hands with them as well as your dining companion.

Then they leave you there without mentioning that you have to go to the counter to order.

After about 10 minutes you realise this and you go to the counter. You order and receive an empty glass for your drink. They don't tell you where the drinks are or that you need to serve yourself with these too.

Foods OK, seems expensive for what it is, several options that are not chicken, given that you can get all the sauces in the supermarket and it's not hard to throw some marinade over chicken pieces and stick them in the oven, and do some microwave rice, fry some halloumi and stick some ready made hummus and bagged salad on a plate while you're waiting, it falls firmly in the 'not really worth paying restaurant prices' category for me.

Mumdiva99 · 19/12/2019 05:28

If you aren't sure about spicy food have the mildest sauce option when your order. The. You can add extra spice with the sauce at your table.

Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2019 05:30

It's not a relaxing dining experience.

You are up and down like a yo yo, ordering, getting drinks, getting sauces, more drinks. It's not fast food exactly but don't expect to be in there very long. Grin

Gingerkittykat · 19/12/2019 05:47

I also love the chicken livers, much to everyone else's disgust.

The chocolate cake is also amazing.

I got the steak option once and it was awful.

The one problem I have with Nandos is it is always so busy, if I could find a quiet time to go I would go more often.

HowsAnnie · 19/12/2019 07:07

It's just clean tasting chicken, really.
Desserts are amazing though.
