Menopause at 37?

I’m looking for some advice please.

I’m currently 4 days late, I had my (non hormonal) IUD removed in Aug/Sept, since then my periods have been normal (they really didn’t change with the iud in place), 30 day cycle. Last month I had a very light period, it barely lasted 24 hours.

I’ve still had my usual hormonal mood fluctuations toward my period starting and have had cramping and back ache for the last week but no period as of yet.

Going on last months unusual period and this months being AWOL, I’m concerned that I might be menopausal/peri menopause, as I’ve read that irregular periods can be a first sign.

Do I need to do anything, see a doctor for a hormone test, take a vitamin/HRT?

Sorry, should add, DP had a vasectomy 6 years ago so no chance of pregnancy (it was something I was so, so nervous about when getting my iud removed, part of the reason I waited so long).

Any knowledgable women who can advise?

I don’t think I’d start panicking just yet... on the other hand, irregular periods were my first signs of premature ovarian failure at the same age as you are. It’s unlikely your GP will take it seriously yet but definitely keep an eye on your cycle because if you are starting menopause early, you’ll probably need HRT to protect your bones and heart.

Thank you, how long do you think watchful waiting would be advisable for, 6 months or maybe a year?

It’s actually crazy that menopause isn’t discussed more openly, I feel very uneducated about what to look for and what to expect. I feel it’s very much crept up on me.

Would another board perhaps be better for more information? I’d hoped for a little more input but I’ve maybe posted in the wrong section (ie this is quite a fast moving board).
