Tooth pain just before wedding - tooth sprain?

As the title says...it's a few short days until my wedding and I'm looking for advice/ reassurance if possible.

I've had a catalogue of dental issues over the last few weeks- all of which I suspect are linked to stress grinding. I had one tooth extracted, but now a tooth on the other side has started to hurt 😢. I really don't want to be in pain on my wedding day.

The dentist has x-rayed and can't see anything obvious. The tooth is intact- no decay or previous filling.

She thinks it is a bruised ligament due to overuse while the other side of my mouth was healing. Also probably aggravated by night time grinding.

I am wearing a night guard. This tooth is so sore 😖 and gets progressively worse as the day goes on. Has anyone experienced a tooth ligament injury?

She really doesn't want to do a root canal, given that my symptoms might ease after the wedding (when my stress clenching reduces!).

I should probably mention that I am extremely anxious about dental pain (think phobic). 😟

Oh, and I take extremely good care of my teeth!

Thanks all.

Could be a fractured root perhaps ? I bit into an apple and felt a dull pain that gradually got worse dentist could only just see what she thought was a fracture in the root it got so bad I begged her to just pull it out, turns out it was infected and I have never had pain like it.

Thank you flavarings- I have started using sensodyne, but will persist & hope for an improvement 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Ibuprofen was my best friend too! Hope it goes away soon! Enjoy your wedding!

Get some of the tooth numbing gel from Boots for your big day. It's miracle stuff honestly.

opalescent · 17/12/2019 22:01

Thank you both ☺️ will the tooth numbing gel help even if there isn't a cavity? Do I put it straight onto the tooth?
