So sad to hear this. I was one of the gang on Twitter who sat up with him when he delivered Audrey's (one of their five dachshunds) first litter of puppies. I didn't know him in real life, but feel like I have lost a friend.

That's so sad for him. I loved him months Communards and now as a presenter.

I just saw this on Twitter and I feel surprisingly upset. I’m a big Richard Coles fan despite not sharing his faith.

He seems like such a good man, and his love for David always shone through his posts. RIP Rev David.

Richard just tweeted that someone has set up a go fund me scam for David’s funeral. I’m speechless. How can people be so utterly awful.

Richard has posted on Twitter that he’s been receiving hate mail. People are saying they are glad David has died and that they will both go to hell. I have no words.

Again what is actually wrong with people they have no heart.

One of the first tweets I saw about it was someone saying that they hadn’t realised Richard was gay, but that explained why he was on the BBC so much.......

Yes of course the Bbc you can't move for the gays this mans husband has died where is their compassion .

Wasn't sure who Richard Coles was so googled. It seems he's recieved abuse since David died about David being in hell, and that he'd follow.

(Turns out i do know who he was.)

I must be one of the few women to have kissed Rev Richard. He was utterly lovely (presented me with an award) and we laughed a lot.

RIP David. And I hope Richard's faith will be a solace to him.

Yes there’s an article on the bbc website about the homophobic abuse he has received. He’s also had a lot of support on line so that’s good to focus on.
