GoKartMozart · 17/12/2019 15:22

In the past I bought DH a lock picking kit. It wasn't expensive, about £15 from memory, but kept him good for hours.

isseywith4vampirecats · 17/12/2019 15:25

I bought mine tickets to see Hawkwind this year as he has everything but likes live gigs im the one who when he asked what do you want for Christmas went omg I don't know don't need anything or want anything

TeeBee · 17/12/2019 15:31

I've bought:
Cooking lesson
Helicopter ride
A subscription to a car valet company
Boss dressing gown
Trainers
Theatre vouchers

steppemum · 17/12/2019 15:35

I'v have bought a swivel table vice.
Don't ask, I haven't a clue, it is what he wanted.

trouble is it only cost £20 so it is hardly breaking the bank.

He also has a new tape measure and a book.

really going overboard chez nous this year!

Horsemad · 17/12/2019 15:40

Escape room voucher?
Couple of nights away in a nice hotel?
Coffee machine?

Sarahlou63 · 17/12/2019 15:42

Make a donation to an animal charity - adopt a horse or donkey rather than buying 'something' for the sake of it.

olivehater · 17/12/2019 15:44

Just ordered dh roadscents- super posh car airfresheners that supposedly smell nice and not artificial.
Thermal Henley top.
A few years I have got him desk toy gasket type things.

Horsemad · 17/12/2019 15:45

Afternoon tea?

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/12/2019 15:45

i've got DH an iphone cover with a photo of him and the DC on holiday.

Also some clothes for his various sports.

I'm most chuffed with junglespeed (the game). Can't wait for us all to play it.

gothefcktosleep · 17/12/2019 15:48

Tickets to a gig or show?
Super car experience

Does he drink whisky? He might like one of those fancy whisky experience sets you can get...

Horsemad · 17/12/2019 15:52

Never heard of Jungle Speed but it looks good. 🙂

MsMellivora · 17/12/2019 15:54

I paid for DH to drive a tank one year, he enjoyed that.

Overseasmom100 · 17/12/2019 16:11

Ah some fabulous ideas here but none would suit him I dont think. He likes Gin so may get him something ginny

dontmentionbookclub · 17/12/2019 16:16

Just about the only successful presents I've bought my DH have been to do with making coffee - fancy grinder, aeropress, stuff like that. I've also toyed with the idea of a subscription coffee club where you have some coffee sent each month, but I'm saving that for when I'm really desperate. Maybe there are gin subscriptions?

DonPablo · 17/12/2019 16:16

Hori hori knife if he's a gardener?
Leather touchscreen gloves?
Cotswold gin do a nice gift set with glasses. (best gin by a mile if you ask me)
Steak stone?

Bunnylady53 · 17/12/2019 16:17

I was going to suggest an experience or concert tickets. Or look at charities such as Oxfam where you can pay for a field of crops, a goat etc etc.

wonkylegs · 17/12/2019 16:17

Things I've bought my similarly annoying to buy for DH
Food - cheese hamper - chocolate & lots and lots of cola bottles
Booze - beers he likes, whisky
Books - things he wouldn't think to buy for himself but has ultimately liked reading
Comedy gig tickets tucked in a book by the comedian we went to see
Theatre tickets
Fancy headphones
Jumpers
Gardening stuff
New leather work bag
New wallet

ComtesseDeSpair · 17/12/2019 16:21

God, watching with desperate interest. I think I must be seeing your DH’s doppelgänger because he’s exactly the same. Doesn’t particularly like “stuff” or “experiences”, very picky about what he wears, and we’re also fortunate enough to have good incomes so anything he does actually ever decide he wants he just buys for himself there and then.

For his birthday I bought him a huge Serrano ham with stand and knife, he liked that. In the past I’ve bought a wanky artistic desk lamp for his home office, a really lavish wool dressing gown and got an artist friend to paint his portrait, he quite liked those but they’re one-offs. One year I signed us both up to run a two-day mountain ultramarathon with wild camping: neither of us liked that much but it gave us something to bitch about in the lead up and some hindsight good stories.

At this rate he’s getting a gram of cocaine and a threesome with my best friend, I am all out of sensible.

DappledThings · 17/12/2019 16:24

Do you have to get him something? For years now DH and I have picked out something for our home and said we're buying it for each other.

We've been trying to get our new bathroom fitted for about 10 months and it's happening right now so this year that's what we are claiming as our gift to each other! Last year was a painting by a local artist.

LER83 · 17/12/2019 16:53

We don't really do presents, I'll buy him bits like smellies, deodorant, hair gel etc for a stocking, but we tend to wait until the new year then book a day out or something. This year we are going to buy tickets to go and see Book of Mormon and have a meal out in London.
