Is Baby Club on CBeebies a real baby group?

I've wondered this because sometimes one of the parents has to leave early to see aN older siblings school play or to collect an older sibling. I was wondering if it's a real baby group with cameras or if the parent who has to leave early is staged for some reason Xmas Confused

Does anyone know?

I was thinking the same , was a bit random !

If it’s real, I would really be put off by all the cameras. Surely most people would be?

Nah, it's far too clean.

No it’s completely staged but done to make you feel like it’s not. It’s also the most PC baby group I’ve ever seen!

PureAlchemy · 17/12/2019 11:48

I’d be astounded if it was an actual baby group.

I know someone who was on this. It is staged of course but the children are obviously real children with real families and sometimes they do have to leave to collect a sibling or have an appointment during filming - that's family life isn't it. It's a relaxed, 'reality' filming style.

Toddler DD is obsessed with this (always nigel, less bothered about giovanna). I'd love to get her on but I think they go via nurseries for casting. I wondered if there was a bit of intentional staging to make it seem more real and relaxed. I've also noticed them being more chatty recently (I watch this show far too much!).

I think it is a ploy to demystify baby groups for the uninitiated. If people are anxious about going to a real group it may be helpful to see that it's OK to leave if needed/OK if your baby is asleep/cries/etc.,etc.
I think it's a great concept and good for bridging the gap between just having the TV on and actively watching something with your child when you need 15mins downtime...

My 2 and 4 year old DS's love this lol (and the baby of course)! I'd love to go on it too...

I find Nigel very watchable :)

Glad you are enjoying the show!

We are constantly thinking of ways to improve it and use it as a tool to encourage more parents to visit baby groups all over the country. So far it's working.
We're excited to make series 3 and look forward to you seeing it

best

Has Giovanna left now? My baby loves this show.
I’m trying to warm to Gemma but it’s not happening yet!

I think Gemma’s show is a new one- the Toddler Club, alongside the Baby Club
