I am hopeful that this will not become a trial by media...

Only for season six - that was pretty expected, I think, Maura & Maya Jama have both taken high-profile flights that way and were expected to take over...

I suspect this might be the best thing for her, as you said, to try and avoid trial by media.

Winterwonderland10 · 17/12/2019 12:21

Maura has dancing on ice commitments so I don't think she could do both

Span1elsRock · 17/12/2019 17:46

There would be outrage if a male presenter went ahead with presenting a show and was up for charges of assault.

She needs to prove her innocence before being back on screen - and that's for the law to decide, not the media.

ForalltheSaints · 17/12/2019 18:14

I will not comment on the allegations.

I would be pleased if the show was pulled, as it is rubbish and because of the impact on some people with body images.

Holdingtherope · 17/12/2019 18:16

You hope it’s not a trial by media but you start a thread???

Sundancer77 · 23/12/2019 21:02

Does anyone else feel sorry for her? To have her private life made so public, what an awful situation.

LoveTiffany · 23/12/2019 21:04

no need to axe the show, plenty do ok from it

dd friend has done well from her stint on it

Winterwonderland10 · 23/12/2019 21:09

@sundancer77 feel sorry for an abuser?? Really?? No I don't. I would say the same about a male abuser too.

Sundancer77 · 23/12/2019 22:23

Has it been proven? I wasn’t sure it had yet though??

hellcarryingahandbag · 23/12/2019 22:52

@LoveTiffany who’s your daughter’s friend??

Mammyloveswine · 23/12/2019 23:02

Missing the point of the thread but thought her outfit to court was totally inappropriate!

AlorMy · 23/12/2019 23:07

@Mammyloveswine
Totally agree. It was so inappropriate that the cynic in me wondered whether it was a strategic move to emphasise how out of it she is.

Dizzywizz · 24/12/2019 08:40

That’s possible @AlorMy, as surely she would have been advised against wearing it??

Freshstart40 · 24/12/2019 08:50

I hope she's surrounded by loved ones, and her boyfriend. Quite a come down. I feel sympathy for them both.

musicposy · 24/12/2019 08:59

He's now not supporting the prosecution. But he dialled 999 and said she was trying to kill him. If the sexes were reversed, we'd say this is 100% typical of an abused partner who calls the police in panic and desperation during the worst of the abuse and then retracts it later. We hear tales like this every day on MN "it was just an argument. Everybody argues". He is following a typical victim script and I'm glad they've refused to let her see him. The courts need to follow it through and not be swayed by him now saying they are still a couple, it was nothing, etc.

Tableclothing · 24/12/2019 09:12

There would be outrage if a male presenter went ahead with presenting a show and was up for charges of assault.

Do you think? I really struggle to think of famous men who've faced similar accusations and whose careers have actually suffered as a result.

Donald Trump talking about grabbing women by the pussy didn't seem to do him any harm.

Boris Johnson said "People aren't interested in that" when asked about the recordings of his girlfriend shouting "Get off me" repeatedly, and he appears to have been right.

Then there's Sir Geoffrey Boycott who was convicted of beating his girlfriend in 1998 and made a knight last year.

Chris Brown was convicted of assaulting Rihanna in 2009 and the publicity appears to have done his career no harm whatsoever.

hellcarryingahandbag · 24/12/2019 12:52

I was also annoyed at Laura Whitmore being the new host, I wanted the GC!!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 24/12/2019 12:54

She's not a particularly nice person in real life. She's sloppy and rude.

Believe what you like but it's not a great loss to any tv show.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 24/12/2019 12:57

And rightly so!

Hitting a partner Is in no way acceptable regardless of if you have a vagina or a cock. No excuse for it ever.
