How to replace lost iPod and music??

I managed to lose DH ancient iPod which he keeps permanently plugged in his car for easy access to his music.

Obviously I'd like to replace it but not sure how best to do it.

I've no idea what music was on there but he says that some of it can't be got from Spotify as it's not streamed etc

Should I get him a voucher for a music store (he has a pixel phone) so he can download stuff onto that?

Can I transfer his old CD collection onto another device eg another iPod or a shuffle???

Is there an even sexier tech solution??

I thought you could only upload music to an iPod via iTunes on a computer therefore you can just get a new device and reimport all the songs on. Am I behind the times??

Definitely look in his iTunes library, anything he’s bought should still be available.

Apple don’t make the classic iPod (with the dial), but you can find them on Amazon; they hold a huge amount, which for me makes them worth the extra cost.

If iTunes comes up blank, streaming might be an option, alternatively, can you borrow CDs from your local library? Some lend CDs for free, but ours charges £1 per disc. Again, not ideal, but you might find some of the less common stuff in the library catalogue.

We had issues with a hard drive dying years ago and losing a load of iTunes stuff which makes it even worse that I've lost this iPod as it was the only place it was still thereSad

So if I bought a new device (eBay maybe) and an iTunes voucher he might be able to recreate it?? And can I go through his CDS and load them into iTunes so he can put them back on the iPod???

I never got into this when it was a thing as it was too much faff! Spotify is about my commitment level Grin

Cex often have ipods of varying generations in stock if there is a branch near you or their Online shop.
Another alternative would be to have a search on Ebay.
Amazon UK have a good selection of Mp3 players.

Thanks for the Cex tip - nano purchased and I've dug our the old laptop with a CD drive to start copying some of his favourite CDs over.

I’ve bought DH a refurbished nano off eBay for Christmas as I washed his last one.

God knows why Apple stopped making them as they are still really popular

I know, it's so annoying! My DS is desperate for an iPod, but I'm just not sure about a secondhand one lasting. I have my 2nd generation still going strong!
