Can someone recommend me a coffee?

For the first time in 33 years of existence, I've actually started to quite enjoy coffee. (I'm still a tea girl at heart)

I recently picked up some decaff ground coffee in Aldi and I've been looking forward to my daily cup. So, I'm on the hunt for some coffee recommendations. I have a cafetiere, and my love for coffee is still in its infancy so I'd prefer something mild tasting ideally. Any suggestions? I'm not fussy about brands - happy to try some from Lidl, for example,as I love their tea bags :) thanks.

Try any Ethiopian coffee. Morrison's or Sainsbury's do their own.

Tescos own is very nice , I get the French style number 5 .
If you have a local one or go on line and speak to Whittards, they are very knowledgeable and will recommend a couple but no hard sell ime

I am a huge coffee snob, I love it, and a friend of mine who is very educated about coffee raves about Aldi coffee. I’ll have to try it. Maybe you’ve started with the best!

Start now with Cafe Direct, Traidcraft or Percol. Good ethical companies who give a fair % back to the producers. They all do ground and instant and Percol do nice "coffee bags" (the convenience of a tea bag with the taste of ground coffee)

Oh and do not read this GrinGrinGrin

I like Colombian coffee best. It's not too sharp. Try Grumpy Mule or Waitrose own.

The nicarguan is good too, I make a special trip to Asda to stock up on their coffees.

I like Percol Americano for instant coffee

hazeyjane · 20/12/2019 17:04

My favourite is Lavazza red, brewed in a stove top pot.

I love fresh coffee and have tried many brands over the years.
Always come back to Sainsbury’s Original beans. I think grinding beans gives a better taste and is worth the extra effort. Our grinder is just a basic no frills model.

If you prefer decaf then lavazza blue packets is the best ever

Lifesbetterwithwine · 20/12/2019 17:55

I second Lavazza decaff in the blue packet. I’ve got an old fashioned krups coffee machine and it’s the best decaff I’ve found.
