Hello
My dear Grandad is into his nineties and widowed. Some health issues and his memory is failing, he lives in an old peoples comolex but theres no warden or support there. My Mum is currently travelling 45 minutes to him, I am over two hours away.
Can anyone recommend any proceses we can put in place to make things better for everyone? Or support or anything?

Worth getting an assessment from social services.
Age uk give great advice.
Pendant alarm, keysafe, apply for attendance allowance( not means tested) get help in ASAP before it’s needed- is cleaner.
Power of attorney docs in place.
Check county council website for help available.

Would he be amenable to an alarm call system? He will get a bracelet like a watch, or a pendant. They can detect falls and go off automatically, and have a panic button on them so he can summon help if he needs it. The company answer the alarm on a loudspeaker through the phone, they will talk to him, reassure him, and send help fast (keysafe so they can get in) and they also phone the family members you ask them to contact.
They are very good, and so reassuring when you can't be there all the time.
Try your local council for info - they often run them.
