One fussy DS, 1 not so fussy DS and a vegetarian DH here.

Looking for ideas.

I have chicken, vegetable and rice soup for lunch as DH is out. Dinner- not a clue.

Ideas welcome!!

Was going to be fajitas but Tesco had legs of lamb on half price yesterday. So we have an enormous roast lamb to look forward to later, probably followed by m&s melt in the middle chocolate pudding. Yum

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/12/2019 10:03

We're doing a 'sort of', very lazy roast:
nut cutlets from Sainsbo's
roasted new potatoes, carrots and shallots
sprouts
stuffing (Paxo)
gravy (Bisto)
and I might treat myself to M&S cauliflower cheese to go with it

BlueSwathesChoose · 15/12/2019 10:07

Oh yum. :)

Have you tried the nut roast from the Clive's brand Remus?

It's pretty good.

I shoudl really use up stuff in the larder.... we have masses of it. I just feel so uninspired!!

Thanks, Blue - not come across that. Where can you buy it?

BlueSwathesChoose · 15/12/2019 10:18

I bought it at Morrisons. It was in a chiller cabinet. It was amazing. No peanuts either which is good for us, because so many nut roasts have them.

The link is to Waitrose, but at Morrisons it was about £5. It got 3 decent portions for us as it is very dense and filling.

The other half of a garlic and herby spatchcock chicken from Lidl, with left over rosemary roast spuds with carrots, leeks and roast aubergines... these all came from the £1 veg boxes Lidl are doing now, including the rosemary. I set myself a challenge to use all the items together...
If I had a vegetarian about the place, I would add a nut roast and make veg gravy.

We're having chilli, so veggie chilli? Good way to get kids to eat lots of different veg.

BlueSwathesChoose · 15/12/2019 10:41

Great idea!

We are having this veggie simple dish for lunch www.gousto.co.uk/cookbook/vegetarian-recipes/3-cheese-veg-packed-pasta-bake

I make a big batch and kids just help themselves as snacks.

Then tea veggie teens have macaroni cheese me and dh having steaks with grilled Mediterranean veg. Not really in line with weather but nice

Somebodystired · 15/12/2019 10:44

I'm making a festive veggie pie. Which is essentially brussel sprouts and onions fried in butter, then added veg stock and cornflour to make a gravy, in a dish with mash on top. Never had it before but I was prepping a shepherd's pie for everyone else with sprouts as a side dish and just decided to throw some stuff together. We will see how it turns out (desperately trying to go veggie in the New Year!)

BlueSwathesChoose · 15/12/2019 10:45

That looks great!

And uses store cupboard ingredients which is deeply attractive to me today!

Thanks, Blue. We haven't got a Morrisons, but I'll look out for it next time I'm in Waitrose. I really love nut roast!

BlueSwathesChoose · 15/12/2019 11:19

Right... I have decided. Gnocchi with pesto cream sauce for DH and pasta bake with prawns, cheery tomatos and asparagus for everyone else. Sorted.

BlueSwathesChoose · 15/12/2019 11:19

Very cheery tomatoes. :)

Black bean sweet potato tacos
Veggie breakfast casserole for dinner (American style tater tot casserole- v unhealthy, 100% comfort food!)
Squash and chickpea curry
Chicken noodle soup

Roast leg of lamb. Full trimmings. They were half price in Tesco, so I bought 3: I thought we'd give it a trial run Wink for Christmas Day.
