So, why are you still awake?

Me? Caffeine and sugar.

Not enough exercise.

Vague anxiety about a few things.

I'm a night owl anyway, but I had a nice long nap early this evening so here I am, wide awake.

LadyB49 · 15/12/2019 03:16

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 15/12/2019 03:20

I'm awake because I have chronic pain that disturbs my sleep. I rarely get to sleep before 3 or 4am.

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 15/12/2019 03:31

I sympathise massively

Ooh, but I just went downstairs to get a drink and we have snow! I hope it is still there in the morning as we plan to put our Christmas decorations up tomorrow and it will be so Christmassey doing it with snow outside. That will give me a bit of a boost! Xmas Smile
I'm going to make a real effort to get to sleep now. Hope everyone else manages to get a bit of sleep and gets through the day ok tomorrow. Sleep deprivation truly is miserable.

DramaAlpaca · 15/12/2019 03:45

I'm heading to bed now as well. Luckily I can sleep as late as I want, no children to look after these days. I will probably surface around noon.

SpoonBlender · 15/12/2019 03:45

Too much coke. The wet stuff, not the dry! I was out with friends today and was the driver. Unfortunately about a litre of diet coke is too much caffiene for my fragile system to absorb quickly... I'm also up at 8am. Siiigh.

Insomnia...

Went to bed at 12, woke up at 2 and after 1.5 hrs trying came on here.

I really miss being able to sleep. I'm perma exhausted - least it's not a work day.

Navy123 · 15/12/2019 04:02

Pregnancy 🙄 and a husband having a nightmare, a child who keeps squawking and wind banging around the house.

Now wishing we had time to get the hall repainted before Christmas. We took all the pictures etc down months ago to fill holes etc in preparation then stalled. Now there’s pictures stacked up in the study and bare walls where I’d usually hang tinsel etc. Obviously not one of our guests over Christmas is going to give a shit but it’s bothering me now.

midsomermurderess · 15/12/2019 04:11

No particular reason. I sleep for a while then wake up and that's pretty much me till about 5.30 or so. Weekends it's sort of ok and if working from home, but otherwise it's just dreadful. I'm resigned to it now though.

Pinkbonbon · 15/12/2019 04:30

Been sleeping later and later lately and the past fortnight I've turned night into day. Crashing from like 10am till 7pm lol. Cant seem to wind it back. So going to wind it forwards instead haha.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 15/12/2019 05:02

I can get to sleep but cannot stay asleep and I'm trying not to let it send me potty. So tired though! The reason? I ended my marriage a couple of months ago (a really positive decision for me- it's been a while coming); STBEXH is still in the house and has been going out a lot, getting really drunk and waking me up. Fortunately I've my own room. Couple this with the fact that I've an undiagnosed chronic health thing going on that looks to be ME (& as well as other symptoms, I have horrendous tinnitus) and also that I've met a wonderful new man who occupies almost every waking thought, well I'm not surprised I can't sleep. Thank goodness I'm off work for two solid weeks from Friday. Sympathy to everyone on here/ this ain't fun, is it?

bellalou1234 · 15/12/2019 05:09

I have had this insomnia all week. Need to be up at 5.30 for a 13 hour shift. Been awake since 3

Egghead68 · 15/12/2019 05:11

Menopause plus possibly the large glass of wine I had watching the strictly final.

Bubblysqueak · 15/12/2019 05:12

Sat in a&e waiting for Ds to be seen by the doctor. Been waiting since 12.45 and don't think it will be any time soon. Thankfully it's really quiet in the children's but and the lovely nurse has made him a bed on a mat on the floor so at least he can sleep.

Comps83 · 15/12/2019 05:16

9 months pregnant
Been waking up pretty much everyday at 3-4am

FudgeBrownie2019 · 15/12/2019 05:21

4am is now my standard wakeup time. Only since the clocks changed, though, so I'm hoping in six months time I'll revert back to sleeping like a human again.

Gerrytrude · 15/12/2019 06:26

Tonight was my fortnightly volunteer respite cover shift. Can't wait to go home and sleep.

aHintOfPercy · 15/12/2019 06:32

Have a dose of flu and haven't slept properly for 4 days. Feeling a bit delirious. When I'm not ill I generally find Melvyn Bragg podcasts helpful for getting to sleep. I must have listened to one about the Emancipation of The Serfs a dozen times and never get to the end of it!
