Last Minute Elf DIY Costumes

Any ideas how to make a quick DIY Christmas elf costume for DS (10) and DD (12)? Iv'e waited till the last minute and can't buy an Amazon costume in enough time. I'm thinking of striped long sleeved shirt, black shorts, and green felt over sneakers. Any tips to make this better and look more like a Christmas Elf???

Any red or green t shirts that can be cut up for waistcoats? Buckled belts done up over the t shirts?

@Letthemysterybe we can make some waistcoats from some old red sports shirts! Any ideas for the bottom part? :)

Have you got fabric for green or red conical hats? Then any dark trousers or shorts for the bottoms.

Dress them in red and green, add a large cardboard belt buckle and a Santa hat with the white bits cut off.

You could make curly shoes with felt to stick over trainers. Or red Christmas stockings on their feet?
