Weird fluttering in abdomen

I have been experiencing weird fluttering sensations that feel like baby kicks. I have a Mirena coil, I'm peri-menopausal and the emergency pregnancy test that I took is negative. What could this feeling be? Do I need to worry about an unplanned pregnancy?

I get this quite often. Have no idea what it is but as you say it feels like a baby fluttering about and I'm definitely not pregnant

skidley · 13/12/2019 18:54

I used to get them in my 40s. Made me very very worried, until I realised I have absurdly no reason to be worried GrinI dont really get then now that I'm in my 50s but yes, do take a pregnancy test if there is the slightest chance you may be pregnant. A wee peri menopausal baby is not as rare as you think.

My guess is wind. I'm at the same stage - perimenopausal. My digestive system has taken on a life of its own and the little pops and flutters of wind within my abdomen are just beyond annoying now.

I get this sometimes. Definitely just wind I think, or some other weird internal twitch that is not pregnancy related!

mindutopia · 13/12/2019 19:04

Wind or bowel spasms. I get it all the time. I never noticed it before I had babies, but it feels exactly the same. Definitely not pregnant.

ErnestJones · 13/12/2019 19:05

It is wind. I thought I was peri menopausal but got caught out with a surprise pregnancy. Whilst I was still pregnant (had a missed MC) I most definitely did NOT get those flutterings!

Wind.

TiReDmUmone · 13/12/2019 19:27

I've had this alot of times I put it down to wind 🤷‍♀️

Crunchymum · 13/12/2019 19:36

You use contraception? You have had a negative test?

I think you are probably OK Shock

ScorchioScorchio · 13/12/2019 20:58

Thanks for the reassurance. It really had me worried but I'm glad to hear several of you have experienced the same thing and that it's probably just wind!

It happens to me all the time and I've never been pregnant. I think it's wind.
