ESA underpayment.

Has anyone else who is in receipt of ESA recently received a letter from the DWP,informing them that if they meet certain criteria, they may have been underpaid, for anything up to 6 years?

I received a letter telling me this a few days ago,and had a look online to see how much the underpayment was. On the questions and answers forum I looked at,there were people saying that they had received back pay for this underpayment, anything from £3000 up to £20000!

I'm just wondering, has anyone on here actually received back pay? My experience of the DWP is that they won't entertain giving back pay on anything, especially if it runs into years worth (as mind would).

i did. I got quite a lot of money back that i should have been entitled to over the years. i got my letter last year and it took about five months to sort it start to finish

If you are entitled to it they have to give it you by law. And yes I've had a form but no back pay which I already knew before I filled it in.

It's to do with some people who were claiming contributions based esa but missed out on a top up of income related esa and possibly premiums that were payable on that.
