Yoga - a question

At a recent gym class during cool down I realised I have a lot of tightness in my right shoulder. We were doing child's pose and the only way I can explain it is a slight stabby pain in a small area of my shoulder; it wasn't sharp or agony but it was enough for me to ease off.

I have never done yoga but I've done a couple of youtube 'yoga for shoulder tension videos' over the past few days, around 20 mins a day; I was wondering if I keep it up how long on average will it take for it to loosen up and for the pain to go? Weeks....months....longer?

Thanks Smile

I don't know if we would be able to tell you that, as presumably it depends on what's causing the pain. If it's just muscle tightness, that could ease off quite quickly, as long as you're targeting the muscles. Regular massage could also help, or sports physio, or an osteopath would probably be able to sort you out very quickly.

I have much more mobility in my shoulders after a few years of yoga, so it can definitely help.

My shoulders are terrible and if I don’t do regular yoga I spend a lot of money at the osteo. You should probably get it checked out before starting yoga to make sure you aren’t making it worse, once you’re given the green light yoga by Adriene on YouTube had a yoga for writers which is amazing for shoulders.
