Katherine Ryan and Civil Partnership

Bit of Sleb Twaddle to divert away from the election shitness.

So it seems Katherine Ryan has become civilly partnered

But is it just me who feels a bit sorry for her daughter who was allegedly so upset by the whole thing she flipped a table on the day?

I don’t buy the “we laugh about it now” thing either.

I used to be a big fan of Katherine Ryan but she seems to have changed into a rather self inflated twat of late and to be so public but also semi dismissive about her pre teen daughters reaction to this is a recipe for a) looking like a twat and b) having your kid hate you for violating their privacy and publicly gobbing off about their upset.

Congratulations to them.
I don't know, she's a comedian. Comedians are known for inflating details and adding stuff that didn't happen to get a good story.
She comes across as a very clever woman. Very woke. I don't think she'd emotionally neglect or dismiss her daughters fears.

PristineCondition · 13/12/2019 11:07

In the same paragraph it says shes happy now and it worked out.

You've read alot into a two minute section of an interview about people you don't know on a show where shes there to be funny

antisupermum · 13/12/2019 11:09

It sounds to me like her daughter is rather spoiled. I certainly wouldn't be laughing an hour later after my child acted so appallingly.

Kids don't need to like all of their parents decisions, nor do they deserve a vote in how an adult conducts their romantic life. Parents are allowed to have relationships after giving birth. I would trust that Katherine Ryan is mature enough and has her daughters best interests in mind when making such a decision. She doesn't strike me as a foolish or easily led woman.

IHateBlueLights · 13/12/2019 11:13

I used to really like her but she seems to have turned to the smug side of late.

MissLadyM · 13/12/2019 11:15

Can't stand her!

Reallybadidea · 13/12/2019 11:19

I'm not a fan, I find her rather irritating, but I'm not going judge her on this, absolutely nothing to do with me and probably the facts are rather different to how they've been portrayed. If she wants to post about in on AIBU then I'll happily have an opinion Crown Grin

MashedSpud · 13/12/2019 11:22

I don’t like her.

ChristaMSieland · 13/12/2019 11:44

She is exaggerating/fibbing for comedic effect. She has a long running vein of comedy going about her daughter. Clearly not meant to be taken seriously.

I am heartened to hear of heterosexual civil partnerships. I think they ae a great idea.

Maybe calling her a twat isn't the most generous way of offering your congratulations, OP?

jalopy · 13/12/2019 11:50

I don't 'know' her but I don't like the persona she projects. There's something about her that I find quite grating and abrasive.

She tries too hard with her humour, at any cost.

BowiesJumper · 13/12/2019 12:25

If you can't say something nice...
Don't see the point in this thread if it's just slagging her off. Not nice.
I for one, like her!

SouthWestmom · 13/12/2019 13:05

Used to love her comedy, saw her live and it turned into a smugfest about how amazing and special her daughter was. Plus she was banging on about beauty and feminism and her huge onstage photo was airbrushed to fuck.
