Alot of people on my facebook are glad that the tories are looking like they are getting the majority, but on here it seems no one is happy about this.

Can i ask why are those who want labour and not tories to win want that, and vice versa?

When i look up their policies i see nothing shocking that would put me off either and ive tried to avoid looking at friends fb posts as they just end up being two people arguing about things im not even sure are true Confused
Is it allowed to ask who you voted for and what your reasons were?

Pointless asking you didn't vote .

American emigrant (ie immigrant to UK) here. Here's my perspective.

The Tories want the UK to be more like America - more race-to-the-bottom competition for jobs at the expense of everything else (environmental regs, human rights stuff like maternity leave, job security).

I think they also want things like healthcare and all public services to be more pay-to-play.

Labour is more interested in human rights and investment in public services and infrastructure.

Because I have seen that the American model is crap, I'm quite upset about this election.

@purplepolo well if you didn't vote & weren't going to vote, why does it matter what the opinions of random ppl on a message board are of those parties???

Just don't moan in the next 5 years about the political outcome if you didn't vote.

My personal believe is that socialism/communism tends to corruption. I remember thinking during the Blair years being broke, with a young family to bring up, supposedly being one of the top earners, but not having enough £££ to save for my own pension while the government (legally) -steal- took my hard earned cash to fund gold plated public pensions. Also, I have seen Communism in China, to say it did not turn out well is an understatement.

I still have not forgotten the last Labour government for Iraq, pension raid, mass immigration and multi culturalism.
I put the Responsibility for the culture which enabled Asian grooming gangs on Labour. I cannot forgive them for this.

If We don’t Brexit, see what’s happening in Hong Kong now? I believe That s what will happen in 10 years time. Mark my words.

Corbyn is a communist. A hard left socialist.

He is anti democratic and anti English.

He supports the IRA, backs Hamas, he appeases the Kremlin and is an anti Semitic condoner.

His policies were wildly extravagant. Full of
Fantasy. They were planning to borrow billions and billions of pounds, which my children and their children would have been paying for.

He tried to use many many scaremongering tactics to frighten the electorate.

Thank goodness it didn't work.

Op you should have done your own research into it and not ask a 95% left wing bias internet site ....

How much has borrowing gone up under the Tories despite cutting public spending?

How did that happen?

Go have a google and tell me why that’s ok please.

Iggly · 13/12/2019 07:12

Why are these debt levels ok?

Can someone explain labour vs tories
akkakk · 13/12/2019 07:14

Just look at the NHS and Labour’s policy on PFI to understand who has screwed the NHS financially - the Tories have slowly moved us out of the huge deficit left by Labour...

Labour are all about smoke and mirrors- borrowing to bribe the electorate who they then plan to screw financially - all because they believe that they know better in how to spend your money... Tory policy is about giving people opportunity...

Iggly · 13/12/2019 07:20

Tory policy is about giving people opportunity

Which people?

The Tories offer nothing for most people and are the masters of smoke and mirrors. Look at their nonsense about police and nurse numbers for example.

They are liars.

@humblebumblebees I don't think people are harsh. The vote is a personal choice and we have an obligation to understand it and use it.
To post one hour after the poll closes to then want to start understanding is a joke. And one that was going to create a bitter taste

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 13/12/2019 07:44

YABVVU.

Exactly this!

Basically there are lots of hard problems that no-one knows how to fix, including but not limited to:

  • the NHS is a bottomless pit of money due to chronic poor health and us all living way too long (I use the term "living" loosely here)
  • ditto social care/pensions
  • ditto education due to the fact no-one wants to teach our horrible entitled brats (and I don't blame them) .
  • globalisation has structurally fucked most western economies by ripping out the manufacturing activities that provided social mobility, and by opening up competition from low wage economies which makes wages a race to the bottom. The result is huge capital concentration in the hands of multinationals who have close to total flexibility about where they invest (this is relevant to the next point)
  • To solve increasing social inequality and invest in 1-3 we need to raise taxes but it's hard to do as most lucrative taxable income streams are mobile.

Therefore, we give each of the two parties a turn at fixing the unfixable (or electorally unpalatable which means they refuse to touch it), then we get fed up and let the other one have a go.

Ad nauseam till we die

HTH. I'm off to have a wine
