Help! I have had my own house for 25 years and I've had about the same amount of hoovers slight exageration Which one is best for mainly hard floors, rugs, couple of carpets , DD with extremely long hair extensions, no pets. Looking at the no hair wrap Shark. Does anyone have one. Does it work?

This thread is a bit old now, so if you've landed here looking for recommendations, we have recently updated our guide to the best vacuum cleaners as tried and tested by the Mumsnet team. We hope you find it useful.

Highly recommend the shark probably over anything else for suction . Aside from the shark I do think the Henry hoovers are good for longevity but suction wouldn’t be as good . I find the dysons useless and gave up on them despite the hype . We have 3 dogs who are in the house most of the day and the shark keeps the house spotless .

I got a Shark (upright, one of the pet ones) earlier this year and I've been happy with it so far. Also mainly hard floors with carpet on stairs/landing, and four cats, so it's used a lot.

I only have the Shark handheld, but I love it. Prefer it to my Dyson and G-tech. If I ever need to replace the bigger vacuums it'll be a Shark.

I’m a vacuum collector , currently in use I have 2 sharks , a Bosch athlet and a Dyson ( all cordless) . The shark is by far the best although I don’t have the new hair wrap one yet . The Bosch is great as a floor vac but it’s awkward to put its tools on . Dsis has the latest Dyson and a gtech and the Shark is better than both of them with the gtech being the worst of the bunch .

I have the cordless shark and I love it. I have a cat and a dog, the shark picks up all the fluff easily. Beats the Dyson hands down.

Shark!

I have the anti hair wrap shark, it’s three weeks old and I love it, one long haired cat and lots of fluff and dust here, suction is great and the anti hair wrap is a marvel

Can’t beat Dyson fir power BUT I just bought a handheld shark. It’s good, heavier than Dyson but has two batteries and will last longer than Dyson. Got fed up with Dyson batteries deteriorating after 2 years. Wait fir Xmas/Boxing Day sales.

I have the Miele C3 cat and dog and find the suction really good. Had previously had Dyson and , found both pretty useless

Thanks All
Bought the Shark so we'll see how it goes.
Never had a Dyson to compare and I hated Henry with that smug little smirk on his faceGrin
