If you were away from home without your family for Xmas..

Would you open presents with them a couple of days before or quickly days later when you’re back home?

I’m working over Xmas and not home until practically New Year. I hate opening presents after Xmas. It feels too late! Would it be ok to open presents with family when we do our early Xmas dinner a few days before actual Xmas day? Would you mind if you were my relatives?

Do you mean you want to open your own gifts? That's fine...but you can't expect everyone else to open theirs.

Are you all having an early Christmas dinner because you are away or will the rest of your family be celebrating again on Christmas day? If the latter they may decide to open theirs that day but dont see why you cant open yours early. My sister is working the few days around xmas (staying away a few nights) but will be opening hers after.

I’m doing an early Xmas dinner because I’m away for 7 days over Xmas. Some of the people coming (stepson and sil/nieces) will be having further meals elsewhere on Xmas day, others won’t (my parents/husband). I’d like us to open our presents to each other that day. Obviously they’d all have presents from other people to open elsewhere on Xmas day. Apart from my parents and husband who don’t really care about Xmas). I just feel flat opening things post Xmas when most people are practically taking their decorations down!

Plus I enjoy watching people open gifts more anyway.

Ps, it’s totally up to them whether they open them or not, I just wondered what people thought.

I think it would be fine! Let them know in advance though!
