Breastfeeding and energy drinks..

My baby is 4 months old he's still breastfeeding around every 2 hours at night I'm exhausted! I don't like coffee and was considering a red bull because I'm sooo tired.

I'm just wondering is it a definite no no or is it a bit like alcohol where if you drink it and then wait to feed you're alright to feed? Thanks!

Do you know the caffeine content? How does it compare to coffee?

I would take a view on that tbh.... maybe only have half a can or something... sorry I’m not sure... red bull is potent stuff though so you might want to try something a bit less aggressive for now. It does get better!

Google says that a 250ml can has 80mg of caffeine, that’s about the same as a cup of coffee.

I drank probably 2 cups of coffee a day while breastfeeding and it didn’t bother my babies at all. Some are quite sensitive, so it’s really more a matter of trial and error. I’d worry more about the taste of the milk putting them off - but I think red bull is disgusting!

You don’t have to avoid feeding while drinking alcohol either. I never limited my alcohol consumption. As long as you don’t get drunk and fall on your baby, the alcohol in breast milk itself will do no harm.
