Miscarriage

Hey all,
I'm new to Mumsnet and just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. This was my first pregnancy, at 6+6 I started spotting which turned into bright red bleeding for two days, I had an early scan today (7+1) which showed there is nothing in my uterus so either I have already completed the miscarriage or it is ectopic - waiting on some HCG blood tests to confirm. I am really devastated and have taken to the internet to find out what to do now. Everything says it's important to take care of yourself after a miscarriage but I never really felt pregnant (no morning sickness etc) I had just been very tired and quite forgetful! All I really want to do now is drink and eat junk food, is that such a bad thing to do at this stage?
I was eating really healthily and had cut out most junk since finding out I was pregnant and now I just want to cry into a bottle of wine and a pizza...is it possible to do any further damage of I don't rest and drink herbal tea as most sites seem to recommend..?
Thanks in advance!

Huge sympathies OP, a horrible thing to go through and I am so sorry for your loss. As with any situation like this it is really important to nurture yourself and aid your recovery by eating good nourishing food, getting lots of rest etcetera. Don’t underestimate the toll pregnancy and miscarriage can take on your body. But with that said, after my miscarriages I was desperate for comfort from any source and if wine and pizza is where you will find it then don’t give it a second thought. Be very kind to yourself and in answer to your question, no you won’t do any damage by not drinking herbal tea, or by eating junk food etc. Listen to your body as much as possible but also listen to your own wants / needs.

You’ll find the miscarriage boards here full of useful practical advice, emotional support and general camaraderie at an awful time. I also found the Miscarriage Association Website and forum helpful.

So sorry op. Miscarriage just sucks. On the recurrent miscarriage board there is information and support and lots of sympathy from those that have experienced this deep loss. Look after yourself and take it easy. 💐🍷🍰

I'm really sorry for your loss @emj314 its absolutely heartbreaking.

I've had 2 miscarriages this year and still coming to terms with what happened (my last one was in September).

Give yourself some time and don't be hard on yourself. It does get easier with time, I promise Flowers

There's a few of us on the conception board - the thread is penguin huddle, it's a really supportive group xx

Thank you for your replies, it's reassuring to hear from others even if it isn't the nicest thing to have in common 💕
I am struggling to find the penguin huddle thread? I'm not too sure how this website works yet!
