Amitriptyline in early pregnancy?

Hi everyone, has anybody got any experience in taking Amitriptyline in early pregnancy, i'm currently on 10mg a day for migraines but have just discovered i'm around 4 weeks pregnant, but reading online has brought some conflicting articles around taking it up, I can't see my GP until Monday but my mind is doing overtime thinking damage could be done by taking it until then, but also not sure wether it would be worse for me to just stop taking them, anybody had anything similar like this before?

Thanks in advance Smile

Hi - I take 10mg of Amitriptyline and recently saw my GP as we are TTC. He advised I stay on it during pregnancy. I'd definitely discuss it with your GP when you can, but try not to panic Smile and congratulations!

Thanks @Wearenotyourkind, I think i'm just panicking from reading things online, next available appointment is not until Monday so just really wanted some other peoples experiences on it to hopefully (try) calm me down

I can only go on what my GP said @princesspeppax but he told me it is safe to take during pregnancy. Hope you get the support/advice you need.

Hi I was told to come off amitriptyline when trying to conceive as it can cause harm to a baby so I'm now coming off. So I'm now confused too!

I was on 75mg if Amitrip throughout pregnancy, for MH issues, Peri Natal psych said it was fine.

The majority of drugs will recommend that you don’t take them during pregnancy because it isn’t ethical to do tests. Amitriptyline, like so many, is of the risk of not taking it is greater than the risk of taking it. It is prescribed during pregnancy.
