How much would you expect to pay to have a babysitter upstairs minding some (4-6) primary children while you had a party downstairs new years eve?

We usually pay £10/hr so on nye would expect to pay double that. Maybe slightly more given how many kids!

OrangeZog · 09/12/2019 21:19

What’s the age of the babysitter and how many hours? I think it depends if you mean a teenager neighbour or someone checked and first aid trained etc.

SPARKLYSTARSHINESBRIGHT · 09/12/2019 21:19

How many hours are you looking at? Teen young babysitter? Probably between £15 or £20 an hour on new years eve.

(DD trying to decide how much to charge!)

4-6 kids?? Definitely over the odds. At least £15 an hour....

PotteringAlong · 09/12/2019 21:32

6 children on New Years Eve? At least £25 an hour.

Depends if the parents are coming upstairs to deal with any problems and she's just refereeing, or is she in full charge

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/12/2019 21:41

Sounds like just refereeing.

Thank you all this is really helpful. She doesn't want to sell herself short (it is NYE after all), but doesn't want to over charge either!

£20 an hour for 6 kids.
When I nannied this was the norm. Although that was for non New Year’s Eve evenings. So maybe £25 an hour.

fedup21 · 09/12/2019 21:44

4-6 primary-aged kids for NYE sounds like hard work-they’re not going to be asleep, they’re going to be totally overexcited!

£25 an hour!

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/12/2019 21:49

Thank you all. We got her to ask them to suggest a price and it is more than she would have dared ask for and in line with your ranges so it feels fair.

Great! Babysitting is always so awkward with how much to charge! Hope it all goes smoothly for her.
