Can I use occluding as an adjective?

The sentence is (the presence of occluding plaques)
Sorry, can't find the quotation marks as not on a UK keyboard.

ohh yeah Blush thank you so much. I've managed to write 4 lines in 2 hours and my brain has turned to mush. I'm sure I get a kick out of this end of semester panic, why else leave everything to the last minute..
