Has anyone had this stinking cold?

2 weeks ago I felt dreadful for a day. The following day a bit snotty but felt alright.

Fast forward to friday and I could feel it coming on again. Tired and neck a but achy head a bit achy. Saturday i felt dreadful. Zero energy and couldn't breath through my nose. Yesterday, still zero energy but not as stuffed up. Today my nose wont stop running and I'm still bloody tired!

Normally I'm alright after a couple of days. This seems to have floored me

Got loads to do this week as well as its dd2 birthday weds and dhs thurs. Feeling very sorry for myself 😞

Yes, I'll join. Not sure if it's the same cold, but I started off last Tuesday with sore throat, extreme tiredness (slept 20/24 hours) and a mild UTI. Full blown cold broke out Thursday, ear infection on Friday and eye infection overnight. Trying to stop blowing my nose now, as most of the times I'm producing very bloody s..t. Ear infection isn't improving with medication prescribed and my cold not really any better, only thing is I don't feel so extremely tired, probably having four naps a day now.

DD home from uni this week and I really wanted the house and xmas shopping up together, oh well!

Yes. Hot and cold sweats, unbearable 'can't swallow so can't sleep' sore throat, nausea, dizziness, hacking cough, sneezing. It has been through my office knocking us all down one by one, and DD has just started to show the signs...

I thought the hot and cold sweats might be just perimenopausal until (teenage) DD mentioned she was having them!

Yes!! Had a couple of days where I thought it was coming on but didn’t and then a few days later - bam! I’ve totally lost my voice, it’s keeping me awake all night coughing and my whole head and face hurts. It’s making me thoroughly miserable! And it won’t bloody go!

Yes and I feel like death. Can't breathe out my nose which is either blocked or pouring. Chesty cough, headache, crackly chest, hot/cold sweats, sore chest and no energy. None of us are getting much sleep atm because we're all coughing our bloody guts up through the night. Wish it would piss off

For those struggling with sleep due to coughing, the thing that I found helped was codeine. I took otc paracetamol and codeine but there may still be some cough syrups that contain it without paracetamol. I don't think you can take if you're asthmatic and it says 3 days max as codeine can be addictive. It was a case of that or no sleep for me tho...

That's a good thought, @Schoolhoicesucks. I'm double teaming paracetamol and ibuprofen now, one on, one off, as I've coughed so much I've pulled something in my neck and it hurts like a bastard. Trying to run today from bed, as DH is working from home and I can rest a bit. Brain still full of treacle.

Hi, I’ve got it as well. Same symptoms 😕
Started with a dry throat, felt like prickly hay in my throat. Sweats, can’t sleep, snotty, ears popping and headache and neck ache. Food tastes weird and there’s an odd taste in my mouth. I want sweet things mainly.
I’ve been taking sophadine and nurofen just to function but my head feels all woolly and I’m grumpy as fuck.

Yep. 2 weeks in now. Lost my voice for a week. Temp up and down. Shivers. Fucking awful.

Everytime I cough my throat feels like it's closing up and it makes me gag! It's awful. And I have a job interview on Friday - I really really don't want to coughgag in that.

Mine started as sinus congestion, then on to sniffing and snot and sweating, now i'm on to the cough of doom, I've not slept properly in a week, my head and chest hurts from coughing so much. My throat is sore and swollen from coughing and I'm utterly exhausted.
