Any idea what this could be? (Pic)

Ds (17) has had these strange tingly / itchy lumps on his forehead since this morning. He's never had anything like it before - his skin is usually very clear so this is really strange.

I don't even know what to google to try and find out more!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks!

Allergic reaction to something he's used? Maybe skincare or something on his hair.

TooleyVanDooley · 08/12/2019 23:35

is it just on one side? Shingles?

FannyFifer · 08/12/2019 23:37

Has he been wearing a hat? Sweat rash?

Shingles?

BrigitsBigKnickers · 08/12/2019 23:50

It does look like shingles.

BumpyLumps · 08/12/2019 23:50

Thanks all.

He hasn't used anything new, and it's just on the right half - his forehead and the edge of his scalp. Nowhere else.

I wondered about shingles but could shingles appear that suddenly and in just one spot?

It looks a bit like impetigo to me but the tingling suggests more shingles. Does it stop in the midline?

Babymamamama · 08/12/2019 23:53

Hives? Chicken pox?

HappyGirl86 · 08/12/2019 23:53

It does look like shingles (but obviously I'm no doctor!)
When I had shingles my back ached for a couple of days and then the rash literally appeared so quickly within about 30 mins. I checked it- no rash, fell asleep for 30 mins, woke up and it was there.
The tingling sounds like shingles. Best to get to a doctor tomorrow as it's near to his eye.
I hope it isn't shingles, poor lad

HappyGirl86 · 08/12/2019 23:56

Meant to say, if you google shingles on forehead it does look quite similar.
I was only 21 when I first had it and my doctor wouldn't give me the anti viral tablets as he said I was young and healthy. But they might do with it being on his face.
If it is shingles of course.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/12/2019 23:56

Looks like impetigo, to me ,get along to the chemist asap in the morning if a dose of Piriton hasn't helped over night.

BumpyLumps · 09/12/2019 00:02

Yikes, thanks all!

Yeah I just googled shingles and it does look / sound like it. He's a healthy 17 yr old - I've always associated shingles with older people whose immune system isn't great.

Doc in the morning!

I've had it twice before I was 30 @BumpyLumps when I was 21 and then when I was 28.
I'm healthy and never had any other health problems. Just sometimes happens unfortunately.
I hope he feels better soon!

Thanks everyone!

It is indeed shingles. He got tablets at the gp, and had to go to eye & ear to make sure that was all OK. It is, but they gave him cream for 5 days as a precaution.

Every day's a school day!!

So pleased they gave him the tablets, makes the recovery much better.
Hope he is back to normal soon!
