I got one as well. Only I wasn’t as “lucky”as you. They were only going to give me £227
The tight bastards. I was ironically going to start a threAd but don’t need to now.
They must be greener than I’m cabbage looking if they thought I was going to fall for that. For one thing I The Taxman would write to you, not send you a bloody text. Also how would they know my mobile number.
However someone vulnerable could well be fooled and manipulated.
I’ll give this thread a few bumps.

Have just had one from EE, saying my latest payment had been declined and asking me to click on link to verify bank details. I have not had an EE account for many months!

@thebeatofthedrum that is the sender of the scam texts number

Terrible cheek and vulnerable people will give away their bank details :(
