Asked for an Earl Grey in Starbucks, the barista asked if I wanted a 'London fog'. Steamed milk and vanilla syrup. Never ever heard of it before! Not sure about it!

Thought this would weather related.hoping for a atmospheric photo
Earl grey is lovely refreshing drink. Never heard of London fog mind you
I don’t put milk in my Earl Grey so no to milk but vanilla syrup might be nice

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 08/12/2019 16:06

Sounds horrible but then I don’t like syrup in my coffee.

Poissonpoison · 08/12/2019 16:08

It's absolutely lovely!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/12/2019 16:11

It's quite weird how the vanilla syrup really brings out the flavour of the tea. But I'm not a fan of sweet tea.

Are you in Ldn?is it a London thing?

Toddlerteaplease · 08/12/2019 16:27

No, I'm in Nottingham! The barista said he'd only heard of it in Starbucks, but asked if I wanted it, as if it was a common order.

Atmospheric picture for @RedLipstickHighHeels.
Not exactly London fog, but SE England anyway (our road last Wednesday)

London fog.
ThisBear · 08/12/2019 16:34

I love Earl Grey, have never heard of a London Fog drink though. Might need to try it for research purposes...

RedLipstickHighHeels · 08/12/2019 16:34

Yes! Thanks that’s what I’m after a foggy half shadow night

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 08/12/2019 16:35

no it's a thing....it was everywhere a few years back on fancypants food blogs

along with chai lattes and other sundry shit hot drinks.

I think they are trying to appeal to folks who don't really fancy hot chocolate.

MrsWombat · 08/12/2019 16:40

I thought you were going to talk about the London Fog cliche that Americans have of London. Grin

Poissonpoison · 08/12/2019 17:38

It's a thing in scotland too

Roominmyhouse · 08/12/2019 17:41

I had one of those in starbucks in Seattle, it was lush! It’s good to know they do them over here too. It’s like a sweet earl grey latte.

Flower777 · 08/12/2019 17:43

It’s a thing in Canada. I’ve had a London fog doughnut!

DGRossetti · 08/12/2019 17:46

It's divine. Grin.

I invented my own version "Brummie Fog", which uses salted caramel syrup rather than vanilla.

You can get sugar free syrups from Amazon.

rhubarbcrumbles · 08/12/2019 17:51

some fog for you OP

London fog.
Toddlerteaplease · 08/12/2019 22:47

It tasted like tea with sugar in it.

I think I might like it if the tea had just had an actual vanilla pod added but sweet earl grey sounds odd. Much better with no milk and a slice of lemon
