I have a few chestnut packets and I'd like a few great vegetarian recipes to use them. They don't new to be Christmassy. Thanks!

if you like sprouts chestnuts are nice with them, or added to sage and onion stuffing

I've put them in a stir fry before. Was very tasty.

Add to a vegetarian sausage and bean casserole.

A favourite here is carrot, celery and chestnuts cooked in foil. Make a foil parcel of chopped celery carrot and chestnuts, add a splash of stock or a knob of butter, seal tightly and bake for about 45 minutes. It's useful as it can be cooked with longer cooking dishes such as casseroles, large pies, and just tucks into any space in the oven, freeing up the hob, and no washing up either!

Nigella has a chicken fricasee with Marsala, chestnuts and thyme. It's not available on her website but I have the recipe at home and will post it later if you're interested

Thanks! I love the idea of adding them to a stir fry, will try that next time. The stew sounds fab too!
