What is this pain?

Last year I was diagnosed with IBS but the last few days I've had awful aching in my stomach. It's been ranging from period like pains and upwards. It's kept me awake at night and been aching when I need to go to the toilet. I have been going regularly and very bloated. Can't stand anything around my stomach atm. Done pregnancy test which is negative but the sample had lots of black bits in which I've not had before.

I only saw the doctor about painful stomach when passing on Friday and he said to keep food and symptom diary which I am doing but he has said to come back if worse. I just don't know whether to call OOH. I was awake for 2 hours in the night feeling like I've been kicked in stomach.
Can anyone say if this is normal IBS?

My IBS usually settles within a few days and drinking peppermint tea settles it down. Where in your stomach is the pain? I would suggest if it’s no better you should call 111 about getting seen in OOH, abdo pain can be a variety of things but you need to be assessed in case it’s your appendix or an ovarian cyst.

Black bits in urine? Sounds like maybe a kidney infection. Are you getting back pain or just the stomach pain? Whatever it is I hope you get some answers soon soon, it sounds awful.

I'd second kidney infection which needs checking out.

I don't know about IBS but my GD has a bowel issue and it causes urinary problems because they can be connected. Something to do with the nerves.

My physio, when I went over incontinence asked about my toilet habits.

So don't ignore it even if it seems to get better.

SarahsDuckz · 08/12/2019 13:19

It's ranging from lower down period type pains to up to below my ribs. Have had some aching in lower back too.

I took a wee sample with me Friday and he said it was all clear? Can this be the case even if kidney infection there?

I did another wee in a pot and saw no black bits but still getting the pain. Does not hurt when I wee.

Mainly feels I've been kicked just above belly button but pain comes and goes and varies in place. Thanks for comments so far it's a bloody minefield.

Ibs can sometimes set off a uti. If mine is bad I feel like I constantly need a wee and sometimes have a full ache for what seems like days Sad

Twinklelikethechristmastree · 08/12/2019 13:22

Sorry should say 'dull' ache
Another thought I had maybe you have constipation?

goldierocks · 08/12/2019 13:29

Hi OP.... I was in an accident that left me with numerous broken bones, including my spine. Yet the worst pain I've ever had (much worse to me than the natural childbirth I had) was from gallstones.

The pain would start like period pains, then I'd feel bloated like needing a number two, but nothing happened. My temperature would shoot up and I'd feel horrendously sick. Attacks would last 4-6 hours at a time and come on without warning.

Until I had my gallbladder out, I'd try to keep active/walking during an attack & drink plenty of water.

Unexplained pain is the pits - hope you feel better soon Flowers

anxioussue · 08/12/2019 13:30

Kidney infection or gall bladder perhaps

SarahsDuckz · 08/12/2019 14:11

I've had bowels open 3 times in the last 12 hours so I don't think it's that. It's not been diarrhoea but I've had to sit a few minutes before it's started moving.

I just laid flat on the floor and the pain felt worse. Even lightly pressing it it's really tender especially around the belly button area. It's not unbearable pain but just a lot of aching which I never normally have.

It’s also worth considering endometriosis.

Don’t underestimate constipation and you can still be constipated whilst having bowel movements, or even diarrhoea.

Has your GP said they will refer you? Are you up to date with your smear tests?

SarahsDuckz · 08/12/2019 14:57

Yes up to date with smears only had done in feb.

He said once I've kept food diary for 6 weeks: 2 normal diet, 2 dairy free and 2 wheat free then he will refer me if can't figure anything out from that.

How do I know if I'm constipated but still passing?

OP posts:
Ash39 · 08/12/2019 17:03

Kidney stones?

FaithInfinity · 08/12/2019 18:04

Constipated but still passing would either be hard stools, like rabbit poo, difficult to pass or diarrhoea (overflow when liquid passes around hard stool that is stuck). I get very constipated on a lactose free diet. Have you called 111?

SarahsDuckz · 08/12/2019 18:19

Been looking on nhs websites at the various things suggested.

Kidney stones doesn't really match up but possible endemetriosis.

I haven't called them yet I'm going to see how I go after dinner and see what happens. I'm keeping a note of everything eaten and symptoms.

Definitely not rabbit poo or diarrhoea, somewhere in the middle and pretty much normal consistently for me.

I woke about 30 minutes after falling asleep with severe heartburn which made me feel sick. I was sick a little bit. Also had more bowel movement

Winter vomiting bug? Especially as you've now been sick. Phone NHS Direct.

Whiskerychinsrock · 09/12/2019 06:58

Hernia? I think you need to go back to the GP or phone 111.

SarahsDuckz · 09/12/2019 10:54

No vomiting bug it wasn't normal sick. It got more comfortable when I slept sitting upright but it still feels lumpy in my throat. I'm sitting in the GP now waiting to be seen

How did you get on OP? I had something similar over the summer, it was pancreatitis related to my gallstones (I'm a bundle of laughs at the moment). Hope you feel better soon

SarahsDuckz · 09/12/2019 19:42

Got to do stool sample and also have bloods done. He said to go to a and e if I start feeling worse again. I've had pain on and off in left side of chest and in between shoulder blades also

OP posts:
FaithInfinity · 11/12/2019 21:16

How are you feeling now?

SarahsDuckz · 12/12/2019 11:36

Still up and down. On and off stomach ache and also pain in my chest when brisk walking. Thank you for asking!!

SirVixofVixHall · 12/12/2019 11:40

Have they scanned you for gallstones ? As that would be my guess.
