Please settle an argument

When you recycle glass, do you remove the labels?

Every time I've googled to settle heated discussion, I get redirected to bottle bank locations.

No, I give the jars and bottles a quick rinse out but the labels stay on.

Hate being in the wrong

No, never. And the bottle banks round here also say it's OK to leave the lid on.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 07/12/2019 16:27

No, rinse out and in the glass bin. Our lids have to go in the normal recycling.

merryhouse · 07/12/2019 16:27

The label burns off when the glass goes into the furnace.

Pretty sure I read this in an official communication (though it was at least a decade ago).

Well, this will save me some time going forward.

Thanks for the replies

Sharpkat · 07/12/2019 16:41

I read that the metal cap and top of wine bottles actually make more money than the glass......

lljkk · 07/12/2019 17:06

metal is very recyclable

nomdegrrr1 · 07/12/2019 17:21
