Has anyone's DC got attached to a random object at this age?

MIL gave me a packet of coffee to pass on to a relative yesterday. Now DS says he loves it and wants to keep it Confused

My toddler used to like carrying a potato around

Swisskit · 06/12/2019 08:00

Enjoy it OP. I wish my children were little again (now 23 and 18). I hope it's naice coffee Grin

Frenchw1fe · 06/12/2019 08:00

Perhaps he likes the smell. You could buy him a bag for Christmas. 😁

iheartchristmas92 · 06/12/2019 08:01

i left an unopened tampon on the side in the bathroom. my 3yo got hold of it and brought it to me saying 'mummy i found a wand'. he wouldn't let it out of his sight for the whole day but had forgotten about it by the next morning, thank god 😂

MinnieMountain · 06/12/2019 08:11

Whoops. I didn't mean to turn on voting.

It's a Waitrose house blend. Not my first choice personally but given how much coffee we drink at home, maybe he does find it comforting.

When my older dd was about 4 she used to carry around 3 dolly's and three dolly beds, except the dolly 'beds' were actually those really thick maternity pads as I'd not long had first ds. She used to carry them under her arm everywhere, wouldn't even let me give her a dolly bed bag I'd made, we got some odd looks out shopping.

BuildBuildings · 06/12/2019 08:44

@AngusThermopyle Grin that's hilarious. As Angus shows it could be worse!

Howsrainbows · 06/12/2019 08:46

When my youngest boy was that age (hes 12 now) he grew very attached to an onion...took it in the shower with him and everything

MerryDeath · 06/12/2019 08:46

hahaha, sweet. my DS would do this, has done it with an empty coffee jar, he likes to sniff everything. although he is 2.5yo!

hazandduck · 06/12/2019 08:49

Haha my 2 year old got an Easter bonnet in the spring that you decorate yourself. We never got to decorate it because she wore it EVERYWHERE. We have managed to get her to stop wearing it the last couple of months but she now wants to cuddle ‘hattie’ to sleep and we have to wait until she’s fast asleep, sneak back in and prise it out of her arms. I love the weirdness of kids!

Blueuggboots · 06/12/2019 08:52

My son, aged 5 drew a face on a butternut squash, named him and then cried when I cut it up for dinner.

Spacebowlisback · 06/12/2019 08:55

My three year old loves to carry an invisible potato. It’s invisible! She could’ve picked anything!

Ellybellyboo · 06/12/2019 08:55

A carrier bag from a supermarket in Menorca

It had a happy, smiley mushroom on it and she fell in love with it.

We went back to Menorca last year and we tried to find the supermarket but couldn’t. I was pretty sure it was part of a big chain but they’ve either closed or changed their logo

She loved that little mushroom

Themazeoflife · 06/12/2019 08:56

Mine had a pet rock, it used to sleep under his pillow every night and we had to kiss the rock goodnight the same as we did for him.

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 08:58

A pebble. So he was never lonely. Those were the days.

BearSoFair · 06/12/2019 08:59

When she was a toddler DD insisted on carrying a welly around, it had to go to bed with her and everything! We ended up buying a second pair as the chosen welly couldn't possibly go outside in case it got dirty...I might remind her of that later on actually Grin

Damntheman · 06/12/2019 10:10

:o this is amazing :D

My 3 year old DD carries a small plastic bucket everywhere and insists that it's in her bed when she sleeps.

MinnieMountain · 06/12/2019 10:15

Hearing of 5 and 6 year olds doing similar is reassuring.

It is very sweet. The coffee is currently on the kitchen table half wrapped in tin foil. I think it's a blanket.

We've got until 22nd December for the attachment to wear off...

A Waterfilled balloon wrapped in a pillow case, became dds "baby" - took it everywhere Grin

Lollypalooza · 06/12/2019 10:20

I’m a teacher and one of my class brought a sprout in in their pocket, they took it out to show me then put back in their pocket and patted it affectionately, giving me a nod.

sugarbum · 06/12/2019 10:24

Children are wierdos. But in a good way. My DS2 when he was about 2/3 used to carry around a play Dyson vaccum cleaner. Not strange in itself (although the fact that his idea of a good time was to visit the Tesco electrical department to admire the 'hoovas' was a bit odd) but he did insist on taking it everywhere, which meant sticking him in the pram with him clinging onto his upright vaccum cleaner Grin

Stabbitha · 06/12/2019 10:24

My 6 year old DD has 14 invisible pugs.

Sometimes when we go out she starts walks funny, it's because she's trying to control the pugs who are invisibly tugging on the leads.

It's hilarious and infuriating in equal measures.

FreiasBathtub · 06/12/2019 10:25

The butternut squash 😂 Blueuggboots I salute you

Stabbitha · 06/12/2019 10:26

DD 3 years. She sleeps with that plastic singing picnic basket instead of a teddy.
