My 3 year old went to bed fine. grumpy but fine.
he just woke up, threw up, fever, cold hands and feet and pale.
my mind thinks it's meningitis straight away can't shake the thought.
my partner says I'm over reacting .
what do I do ??

Cold feet and hands could just indicate dehydration, made worse by the vomiting. More likely to just be a bit of gastro, can you get some hydrolyte/pedialyte in him? (Not sure if you have those brands in the UK, pop down to chemist and get the equivalent).
Meningitis symptoms would be photophobia, headache, sore neck etc.
If he can keep some fluids down and remains in a normal conscious state, I would just keep an eye on him but if he worsens, a trip to A+E wouldn’t be unwarranted.

Oh and feel free to give him some paracetamol for the fever, it’s not super important to reduce his temperature immediately (fever is a symptom of his body fighting the bug making him sick) but it will make him feel more comfortable

Both my children seem to always get freezing cold hands and feet when ill.

How high is the temperature? Is your child alert and talking to you? It's almost certainly just a normal bug but if you are still worried you can call 111 for advice. They have a series of questions related to diagnosing potential meningitis.

I would trust your gut and seek medical advice ASAP.

Call 111. Wish we had similar in Ireland. My dds used to get cold hands and feet with infections. I'm the same myself even now. Hope he's better soon.

If in doubt seek medical assistance.

ButiLoveHim32 · 06/12/2019 03:41

I wouldn't be asking random strangers on the Internet to make medical decisions about my child! If you a medical opinion, as a professional.

Saltdoughmuncher · 06/12/2019 03:44

My 3 year old was like this the other night. I have some calpol, tried to warm his hands and feet and then phoned 111. Ended up just being a 48 hour virus.

Trust your instincts and get a medical opinion.
